Hi I'm Shayleen

I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. I've been a member all my life. Some day I'l be an art director for a company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies include watching movies, shopping, painting, drawing, exercising and yoga. I'm also interested in film. I used to make videos with my friends all the time in middle school and high school. Also During middle school and high school I tried gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and softball. My favorite was volleyball and though I was good at it and loved the sport, continuing that in high school just didn't end up working out. I also joined the yearbook committee my junior year. That's when I realized that I like to take photographs and edit them the way I like it. I also helped design a handful of sports and theater pages which was really tedious fun but also fun. Joining the yearbook team sparked a new desire for graphic design and digital media. I like to choose fonts and set up a page layout and see what looks best. So After I graduated high school I went to college for a year and took an online digital media class and also an illustration class. Both were really fun but it seemed to only make my decision for my career choice harder to make. Realizing that I'm interested In more than just one subject. After one year of college I made the decision to go on a mission. So I took a year off from school, switched from multiple jobs, and did some counseling. I am now finished with the counseling and taking a mission prep class. I know that after my mission Heavenly Father with guide me to know what path in life he wants me to take.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life, but that doesn't mean that I didn't have to make the personal decision on if this church is true. It wasn't really a specific time though. I've really been asking myself that question all my life and every time it's been confirmed that it is true, whether the answer came right away or through an experience I had later on or much later on, it always came. I've honestly have never thought that this church isn't true. There have been times when I was confused on a certain subject, but I would simply ask about it and was always satisfied with the answer I got. Of course there are certain subjects that are very controversial, things that the world doesn't agree with, and I have thought long and hard about them but that's one of many things that I love about this church, That in a crazy upside down world where things are constantly changing and religion is constantly being mocked and ridiculed, there is Christ. Christ's love never changes and neither does his restored church. yes some small things may change here and there, but never the pure doctrine, or The Book of Mormon, our Heavenly Fathers plan of happiness- the path that we take to get back to him. I know that this is the only path that will take us back to his presence. And I know that no matter what we've done, there is a way to be forgiven and saved through Christ's atonement, and to me that is truly precious.

How I live my faith

I joined the singles ward (A church ward where only people from 18-29 years of age attend) about a year and a half ago. At first I was really hesitant because I thought it was weird that Some one close to my age would be teaching and organizing the church activities. But I have learned a lot since I've joined. I am the secretary in the women's organization called relief society and almost every week we go on visits to get to know the girls in the ward. That alone has helped me realize how important it is to know each other and to be personally connected so that the ward can be more united as a whole. Same goes for how well home and visiting teaching can help people make friends and know if and when someone needs help in their lives. So that's how I live my faith, by making new friends so I can help them come unto Christ, by sharing Christ's love.
