Hi I'm Jamie Siggard

I grew up in small-town Utah, but currently live in the Seattle area. I love adventure, family, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

After graduating high school, I moved to the Seattle area for a live-in nanny job; I'm convinced it's the best job in the world... getting paid to play! I've been in Seattle for about 2 years now. I love any outdoor adventure; camping, hiking, running, kayaking, and any other opportunities that come! I LOVE going home to Utah and visiting my family - I come from a blended family, in total I have 9 brothers and 1 sister. I am working on my BA degree in Marriage and Family Studies and will graduate in about a year; I am grateful for the education and the opportunity to continually learn! I love traveling whether it be near or far - my most recent big adventure was backpacking in China with a few cousins. Though I love international travel, some of my favorite trips are quick weekend road trips with friends or family!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I was not born into my testimony - I've always believed, but my true conversion began when I was 16. When I was 16 I went on a humanitarian trip to South America - I was SO excited for this trip and had worked hard to earn funds, however, the trip was much more difficult than I had ever expected. I felt so alone and I hit my "rock-bottom". That was the first time in my life that I really recognized the blessings of prayer and scripture study - these carried me through that extremely difficult time. My conversion continued through high school and continues to this day. Another really profound time in my life was after I moved to Seattle. I had many opportunities to serve and was trying my best to do what was right. I felt happy all the time... I was convinced though that it wasn't possible to be that happy all the time and within a month or two I would probably hit a "low". However, with time, I realized it wasn't necessarily happiness that I felt all the time, but it was continual peace. Life is hard some times and we will have some not-so-happy days, but as we live the gospel teachings we will have CONTINUAL PEACE even amidst difficulty. I know the Book of Mormon is true; I have read it, prayed about it, and put it's teachings to the test. The Book of Mormon has changed me. With the knowledge that the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith really did restore the gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I know that the Lord is aware of each of His children and that He loves us - as we turn to Him, we can find truth and knowledge and peace. I love the gospel with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I served over the women's organization in my ward for about 18 months, I loved the close association I had with so many wonderful women! I currently am teaching a small class that focuses on creating Christ-centered homes and marriages. I also am in charge of planning our ward campout that is coming up in a few months which I'm so excited about. I serve in the Seattle LDS temple on Saturday mornings beginning in the early hours of the morning. I have loved the opportunity to serve in this way and have been significantly changed because of this experience. To learn more about LDS temples, check out this link ... https://www.mormon.org/beliefs/temples I try to live my faith each and every day by the way I treat others, the decisions I make, and the habits I establish. I love my faith, it has shaped my life in every way.
