Hi I'm Tessa

I'm from New England, I love the earth sciences, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've lived in a small town in Connecticut for the majority of my life, with my parents and five younger sisters. I recently completed my first year at Brigham Young University in Provo, where I plan on majoring in Biology. I have loved all of the sciences, especially earth related sciences since elementary school. In high school, I participated in my school's Science Olympiad competing team, competing in the categories of environmental science, astronomy, forensics, and built Rube Goldburg machines and roller coasters. I also very much enjoy singing and music, I was in the New England girl's choir, and sang for the BYU Women's Chorus. I love jazz music, as well as traditional choral music. I love spending time with my family and extended family spread across the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family, so I've grown up being taught about the church and it's beliefs. I don't think there was ever a time in my life that I can remember not going to church, or not believing in the Book of Mormon. But I am a Mormon not because of my family culture. I am a Mormon, because I believe that this is the true church. I have read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed about it, I have lived by the principles of the gospel, and from the peace and direction it gives to my life, I know that they are true principles. I can't imagine living in a world so filled with turmoil as our modern world without the knowledge and direction that the gospel gives to me.

How I live my faith

Having always been a member of this church, I have had many related service opportunities. I play the piano for meetings on Sundays, and have occasionally been asked to teach classes at the church. Currently, I have the privilege of serving as a missionary in the Brazil, Santa Maria mission, where I will be able to serve and share my beliefs. But more than the service opportunities I have received, I live my faith by the simple, everyday choices that I make. I am not perfect, and I often make mistakes, but by choosing to make good daily decisions, no matter how small they are, I am becoming closer to my Savior Jesus Christ.
