Hi I'm Sara

I was born and raised in Guatemala. I'm a college student in Las Vegas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 I like to dance I like to listen to music (I listen to a little bit of everything but mostly Kpop) I like to bake more than to cook I go to CSN (College of Southern Nevada) and I'm majoring in Journalism/Media Studies

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. However, I was never forced to go to church nor to not learn more about other religions. It was crucial for my parents, as well as for me, to find out for myself whether I was in the right church, and so I did. I always knew I could pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him any question I needed and answer to, and so I prayed to Him and I said "Heavenly Father, is this church the correct one?" and through the power of the Holy Ghost I was able to know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God here on earth ; ever since then, I have gained a testimony of the veracity of this church and I've continued to keep going to church meetings and learning more.

How I live my faith

I try my best to keep the Lord's commandments in my daily life, but most importantly, to follow Jesus' example and help others in what I can. I also teach 3-year-old kids in Sunday school and through this I've come to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

As many know, the Bible is the word of God and it was written by ancient prophets living in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon, is just like the Bible because it was also written by ancient prophets but the difference is that these other prophets lived in the Americas. Both books are testaments of Jesus Christ and they teach about His gospel. Many years after the Book of Mormon was written and buried by one of the last living prophets of that time, Moroni, Joseph Smith received the record which was written in thin plates of gold. We now know that it wasn't uncommon for Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas (people of that time period) to keep records on metal plates. Joseph translated the book into English by the inspirations and authority of God. The Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand and we as Mormons use and read both books :). I know that God loves us so much that He calls prophets to guide us and receive revelation that will help us later on in a future. He knows everyone that has lived, is living, and will live on the earth and He wants us to read and put into practice what we have learned from both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, as these have His words and counsels.
