Hi I'm Alexander

I'm a student at Duke University, soon to be a missionary serving in Puerto Rico. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Alex and I'm a college student studying computer science and Spanish. I speak Spanish so I can talk to the Colombian side of my family. I really love to go running whenever I have the chance. Love it or hate it, it's the sport for me. I also love music; I play the euphonium for my marching band at school. I was also a participant and trainer for Amigos de las Americas during high school. I traveled to and worked in Oaxaca, Mexico for a summer. I am very excited to serve my church on a mission for the next two years as well!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am grateful that I was born into a family where both of my parents were Mormon and taught me the values of the gospel that continue to bless my life each and every day. While I initially recognized the direction and peace it gave me in life, I have come to understand its greater purpose. This life is a time in that we can prepare to join our Heavenly Father once again and become just like Him. While none of us may be perfect, I know that by following the gospel we can all become a little better than we were the day before. The Holy Ghost can and will guide you in the things you need to do; all you have to do is sincerely ask and listen. I know that this church is true and that the fullness of Christ's gospel has been restored to the earth today. I testify that the Book of Mormon is true and will guide you closer to God as you prayerfully read it. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

While I was in high school, I woke up every day before school at 6:00 AM to attend seminary, a scripture study class. My classmates always thought I was crazy when I told them that I would do such a thing, but I thought it was the best way I could have started my day. I was with friends that I would see later throughout the day and I could go to school with a spiritual message already in mind. While in college, I served in my ward's activity committee. I would plan different events for the ward and would try to get members and friends from different areas to come together and have a great time.
