Hi I'm Barbara

I'm a wife, mother, and grandmother. I bake a pretty great batch of sweet rolls. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent my childhood in Southern California and Utah and now live in Southeast Idaho. I'm a grandma with 10 grandchildren. Unfortunately only one lives close to me. I love to travel to spend time with them at their homes and see the sights in their areas. I like to bake but only when there are others that can eat the results. I used to be an avid reader but aging eyes have made me become a lover of audio books. I mostly read historical fiction and LDS fiction. One of my hobbies is playing word games.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a sixth generation Mormon. When I was a teenager a Sunday School teacher, knowing my family history, told the class that I was "automatically" Mormon, I didn't have to find out for myself. I didn't like this comment and decided I better know for myself why I was LDS. I studied and prayed to have a witness that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. In time I received a witness that I didn't need some amazing experience to know. I knew in my heart that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he restored God's Church to the earth in the latter days. I knew then that this was my own testimony and not that of my parents or ancestors. I have never doubted this knowledge since.

How I live my faith

I try to do my best in serving in the Church. One of my favorites has been directing summer camps for girls 12-18 year old. Everyone attending has the opportunity to enjoy nature, learn self reliance, make lifetime friendships, feel the Spirit, and just have a good time! I like to look for simple ways to serve others, like help an elderly neighbor with their garbage can or hold a door open for a mom with a stroller.
