Hi I'm Lucy

I love to learn. I've been Type One Diabetic for 5 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19, and I've grown up near to Cambridge, England. I'm serving an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the England London South area, now that I've completed my A-Levels at school (I studied Biology, Politics, History and English Lit). The day before I started Year 10 I got diagnosed with Type One Diabetes - it's been an interesting learning curve but just about a manageable one! I've really liked spending time in new places with my family - in the last 3ish years we've explored parts of Cambodia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Vietnam, Italy, France, Germany and the West Coast of the USA - exciting stuff :)

Why I am a Mormon

My parents and grandparents are also Latter Day Saints so I've grown up surrounded by the gospel of Christ, but this doesn't mean I'm just going with the flow! My conversion has come gradually but powerfully. As I've tried my hardest to live how Christ would have me live I've noticed how much Heavenly Father has sent blessings in my life. As I've studied the Book of Mormon and the words of the modern-day prophets we're blessed to have now, I've felt the Holy Spirit so strongly tell me that these words are totally true. There is a power in the Book. I'm so very grateful that I have the gospel in my life, and especially the eternal perspective it gives me and ensuing peace.

How I live my faith

Over the last year or so, I've been a youth leader working with the teenage girls in my area. It's been fun! They're awesome; I love teaching them, learning from them and having fun with them! I've also been assigned to be a learn how to use family history sites like Family Search to teach the youth too - a challenge because it doesn't come totally naturally to me but it's really interesting and is definitely a worthwhile pursuit. In the last 4 years, I've also been a student in a class of teenagers who wake up early before school to learn about the Old and New Testament, the Book of Mormon and other sacred books of our faith. It sounds totally nuts and it was a bit of a sacrifice (sleepwise!) but totally worth it - my faith in Christ has grown SO much since doing so.
