Hi I'm Marty Morris

I grew up in Safford, Arizona. I served in the U.S. Army for 30 years. I now live in Litchfield Park, Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from a small high school and wanted to see the world with my beautiful wife. We traveled the world for 30 years with seven children while serving in the U.S. Army Medical Department, as a Clinical Chemist. We lived in Europe, Northeast Asia, Hawaii and other remarkable places in the United States. We now have 20 grandchildren and enjoy visiting them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). I know Jesus Christ lives and is my personal Savior. I grew up in a small town in Arizona. I had great parents, friends and youth leaders who helped me gain a testimony of Jesus Christ. After high school I attended college. While in college I questioned my faith because of classes I took in the life sciences. Specifically in the area of evolution. I stopped attending church and thought I would find knowledge and peace through reading science books and articles. My Dad had been in the Chemical Corps in the Army during World War II. He shared many stories about serving his country. I thought I should join the Army. He was one of the first military members to land at Japan to help rebuild Japan. I thought I would someday like to go to Japan. After about two years of traveling down the path of just focusing on science I realized I needed to make a change in my life. About this same time I felt something significant was missing from my life. I had been corresponding off and on with my childhood sweetheart. We met when I was 14 and she was 12. She had moved to Hawaii my Junior year of high school. I felt an impression that I needed to travel to Hawaii and propose marriage. I didn't tell her I was coming so she was very surprised when I showed up at her place of work. I proposed to her on Christmas day and we were married shortly after. With a beautiful wife and a re-focus I started back on the path that has brought me peace and happiness. I have a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Redeemer. I have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel. I know the Book of Mormon is true and the Prophet Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ in these the latter-days. I did join the Army and one of our many assignments was in Japan. I have an amazing family with 7 children and 20 grandchildren.

How I live my faith

I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and loves me. I enjoy participating in church and community activities. I have served in almost every calling in my church. Including the Nursery (children 18 months to three years old); with youth 12-18 (teaching them about Jesus Christ, how to live Christian values and the scout law, oath and motto); and with adults 18 and older (teaching them to be good husbands, dads and grandfathers). I enjoy serving in the community. I have participated in community "Make a Difference Days," feed the homeless, "JustServe and many Eagle Scout projects.
