Hi I'm Colby

I grew up in America. I wrestled with addiction. And beat it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest in my family and I grew up in the frigid and humid state of Minnesota. Throughout high school I wrestled and ran track. I am a firm believer in hard work and that belief was reinforced as I worked on a dairy farm in my small town. I enjoy anything that has to do with the outdoors!

Why I am a Mormon

I believed in the church since I was young. My mother passed away of cancer when I was ten and I needed to know that she was okay, and if it was possible to see her again. Through the holy ghost, Heavenly Father told me that she was okay and that I was going to see her again. I was baptized. But after a couple of years my scripture study and prayers dwindled to nothing. I let the adversary take that seed of faith that had started to grow, and I was lost. lost to addiction. I felt like I was in a cage, I wanted so badly to get out! I clawed and clawed my way out, only to end up right where I started. I was miserable and angry all the time. Finally I decided to do what I knew was the right thing to do but what I also knew would be one of the hardest things I would ever do. I asked for help. From God. I was so horribly ashamed, I thought he would never want me back. I had messed up so many times. I had asked for forgiveness so many times. But what I realized is that no matter how many times I failed, somehow every time I made an attempt to rise from my sins...I felt his love, what a tender mercy. I decided to read the Book of Mormon every day, slowly the addiction faded. I had absolutely no desire to walk that path anymore. It still haunts me, but I am free. None are ever to far from the reach of the atonement. The adversary will never again shake my faith in God or his son Jesus Christ or the church and its representatives. That is why I am Mormon, because I know that the Book of Mormon was created specifically for us, for this day and age. I have witnessed it in my life and in others and so I choose to live it each and every day.

How I live my faith

Every year Mormon churches around my area come together to do a couple large service projects which I have had the pleasure in participating in. I also have gone with the missionaries to teach others. I like to live my faith by showing an example of love, kindness, obedience, meekness, humbleness, and faith. And if a conversation of religion is started or someone asks me a question I love to answer to the best of my ability or get back to them with an answer.
