Hi I'm Janet

I grew up on a dairy farm in Heber City Utah. I am a teacher who loves to see "the lights turn on" in young minds! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up on a dairy farm where I learned how to work with my four older brothers. I had jobs like: gathering the eggs without scaring the chickens; feeding calves and lambs from bottles; and riding a horse to bring in the cows for milking; helping with the milking of 40 cows and also the cleanup. I am a mother of 5, a stepmother of 4 and a foster mother of 15; I love to nurture! I enjoy gardening that beautifies our yard. I enjoy making things: crafts, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. I also love playing the piano, reading good books, hiking in the mountains, four wheeling through back roads, bicycling around the neighborhood, scuba diving to see the beauties of that part of the world, and doing family history. I received bachelor and master degrees in education, and spent 29 years teaching elementary school. Each year, we hatched chicks and butterflies in the classroom; performed a classroom musical of Peter Rabbit for several years; wrote and performed an opera about bulling and friendships that we called "The Lesson", that we performed for several years; one year we were able to perform the opera on the stage of one of our city's opera house.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; a Mormon! I have never doubted the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught to me by my parents, and by our church leaders. I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me, and I love him. It is my desire to keep his commandments, that I may live with him again, when the tests of this life are finished. I know that Jesus Christ is my brother who has atoned for not only my sins, but for the sins of all of God's children who truly repent and come unto him. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet who restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in these latter days, and I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet now. These and all the prophets in between these two modern day prophets have been given direction through revelation to help us become more like our Heavenly Father, if we will but follow the living prophet.

How I live my faith

Because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I try to live like Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father would want me to live. Service is a big part of my life because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am a member of the largest and oldest women's organization. I teach the women in our church and look out for their welfare. We call each other "sister" because we are all children of our Heavenly Father. I frequently take in meals to help a sister, take care of family members while a sister is re-cooperating, or just run errands. At least once a month, I visit three sisters who have been assigned to my watch. I also serve by teaching members of my church and also non members about family history; I teach a class on Sunday and also volunteer one night during the week helping people find their ancestors. My body is a temple, and so I try to only put good wholesome things into it. This means, no alcohol or tobacco, I watch no R rated movies or pornography that would alter the thinking of the clean brain my Heavenly Father blessed me with.
