Hi I'm Matt Montague

I grew up in the valley of the sun. I love football and working outside and I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Matt and I am a senior in high school. In high school I played football and threw the shot put and discus in track. I love being with friends and having a good time. Even in the dessert of Arizona I love working outside and being outdoors. I love hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, four-wheeling, hunting and pretty much anything else that gets me in the great outdoors seeing all of God's beautiful creations. I also play the cello in the full symphony at my high school. I love making music as music is a powerful tool to be able to feel the Spirit. I have been playing now for 9 years. A few weeks ago I received my call to serve a mission and have been assigned to serve in the Oregon Portland mission. I am so excited to serve my Heavenly Father for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I enjoy the goodness that comes from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The only way to find pure and eternal joy is through Jesus Christ. Also I am a Mormon because I love the unity and the bonding that is shared between those around you. Pretty much you become one big family all striving towards the same goal, and that goal is to return to live with our Father in Heaven. I enjoy the opportunities that come from being a Mormon and the chances that it allows me to grow and develop as the man that I hope to become. But really when it comes down to it I am a Mormon because I want to be able to live with God and my family forever and be eternally happy.

How I live my faith

It is important to be active in living my faith every single day. I find that I have to make a conscious effort every sigle day to live my faith inorder to keep on top of everything that happens in the world. in my own ward I enjoy going to quorum meeting and mutual with those that are my age. it really builds me up and makes my weeks go better. As well as this with me being in high school still I have the opportunity to be able to go to seminary every school day and learn and feel the Spirit and I find that this is a huge boost in my life. The opportunity to go every day and be spiritually rejuvinated is a huge boost.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Matt Montague
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints we are commanded to share the gospel with all those in whom we come in contact with. So in a sense yes all Mormons are missionaries constantly sharing the gospel. Also along with this every worthy able young man that is at least 18 and graduated from high school is stongly encouraged to serve a mission for two years and young women age 19 and above are invited to serve as well.
