Hi I'm Zachary McMillan

I have grown up in Utah and Costa Rica. I have helped serve a community in La Calle Real, Nicaragua. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a house with my family until I turned fourteen. My dad got a new job, and my family and I moved to Costa Rica where we learned Spanish and we experienced a whole new culture. In the summer of 2015, my family and I moved home to Utah where I am finishing high school. I love to be in the outdoors and do lots of activities like camping, hiking, biking, and snowboarding in the winter. I also love to surf and snorkle. I also really like to take pictures of nature, especially sunsets. I play on my high school baseball team, but I also enjoy playing other sports like basketball, soccer, and football. I recently received a mission call to serve for my church in Brazil! I am super excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I truly love this gospel so much! Since I was born into a Mormon community, I didn't really have a testimony as a child. When my family moved to Costa Rica when I was a teenager, my faith was tried. I was one of the only Mormons in the area I lived and at my school. After trying to be an example to others and really following the guidelines my church had set, I felt so much happier and it made me want to try even harder. By reading the scriptures, praying to Heavenly Father, and choosing the right, I have come to feel so happy and guided in my life. I know that Heavenly Father lives and loves each one of us. Jesus Christ truly is our Savior and Redeemer. As we turn to Heavenly Father in sincere prayer, His love will fill us and shape us into better people. It is because of the joy that I have felt as I have lived my faith that I do the things that I do. It is the reason why I am going on a mission and leaving behind my personal life for two years. I know that this is the life I always want to live, and I want to continually progress by doing what Heavenly Father wants me to do.

How I live my faith

I help my mom out with teaching an English class to the spanish speaking community in my area. On thursday nights, we go to the local food bank where we teach an hour long class to help the people with English phrases and with any questions they have about the language. I also have a calling in my church where I contact people in my ward and set up appointments where my leaders and I go on visits to spend time with members and help them set goals in order to stay close as a family. I also love to read the scriptures, both with my family and by myself. It is calming and helps me feel the Holy Ghost. Along with scriptures, I love listening to LDS hymns, visiting the temples, and reading talks that church leaders have given. It makes me feel happy and at peace.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Zachary McMillan
I am assigned to labor in Brazil speaking Portugeuse and I leave on August 22nd. I am going not because I am required to, but because I love the gospel. I want others to feel the joy I have felt from living my gospel. You can feel lasting happiness regardless of your circumstances. I know that this joy comes from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Feel free to ask me any questions, I would be happy to answer them! Show more Show less
