Hi I'm Ellen

I'm a wife, mother, grandma (& great), and friend. My most cherished name is grandma. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have been raised and live in the beautiful state of Utah. I have been married to a wonderful man for 44 years and am a mother of four grown married children. My children all have great spouses. I have 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I cannot forget the eight chickens (no dogs or cats at this time). Grandchildren are the light of my life. Having four grandchildren live next door is pure joy...I only wish they all could live this close. I love to serve my family, friends, and community through tending, feeding, sewing, cleaning, hair cutting, organizing, building, and all kinds of other projects. I had the privilege to serve on a school board for 16 years. I became a real estate agent because I loved the idea of helping people find a place to live. I enjoy the process of seeing something old become something new and useful. We bought a house that had a rickety rusty metal shed. The shed held an old worn out table that was the height of a cabinet. I took the table and cleaned, sanded, painted and tiled the top of it. It's my favorite table. I love to read a great book and can’t and won’t stop reading till I'm finished. I enjoy a great workout - by walking, biking, hiking, swimming and cleaning my house. And I love to travel. I want to travel to all parts of the world. I just made it to Europe last year and Belize this year. I can't wait to see England in September and live there for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-ay Saints is the true and living church today. It has been restored! I can testify to this truth! I have heard people say that they know the date and time they came to Christ and were saved. It wasn’t like that at all for me. I was taught by goodly parents who taught me truth and obedience and were an example of charity in my youth. Little did I know that I was learning line upon line! I had faith and believed the Church of Jesus Christ was true and saw the wisdom and knowledge and miracles as my husband and I raised our family. I would read the Book of Mormon and my soul would be filled with warmth and peace that reaffirmed my faith. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a religion that requires sacrifice and devotion and especially faith. Through reading of the scriptures, prayers, service and keeping commandments I have found great joy and happiness. And that is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I have spent plenty of time to contemplate this question. It is so hard to explain how I live my faith because it is in every fiber of my life. My husband and I try to lead our lives like Christ lived and taught. It was our focus and goal to have a Christ-centered life when we started dating. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints builds temples to seal couples together. We believe that we will live together after this life and be with our family. Our first step to having a Christ-centered life was to be married in the temple by someone that has the priesthood authority that could seal us together forever. Our children and grandchildren are a big part of our lives. One thing I am grateful for is having such a loving family that can overlook my weakness and still love me. Prayer, reading scriptures, attending church and giving of our time and money is a big part of our lives. My husband and I are going to England to live for 18 months to work in helping further the knowledge of Christ and the Book of Mormon. Living our faith and living with faith is a step by step process.
