Hi I'm Parker

I grew up in Ohio. I write folk music. I'm a storyteller. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love everything that has to do with music. Whether it's listening during my drives around NorCal, jammin' by myself or with friends while I was in college and high school, or performing in front of hundreds of people in my a-cappella group, music has been apart of every facet of my life. My favorite genre is folk, and my favorite artists are Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, The Head and the Heart, The Oh Hellos, and The Northern Lights. I continue to write folk music and lyrics to this day - I even wrote an album back while I was in high school! Another thing I love doing is meeting interesting people and collecting their stories. For the album I wrote back in high school, I actually based all the songs I wrote off of interviews I did of local, independant farmers around Ohio (I have this knack of taking all the things I'm interested in and relating them back to music). I plan on recording the album once I back home from my mission. Now that I am serving to people in NorCal, I love getting to meet all sorts of different people with diverse opinions relating to our relationship with God, our families, and everyone else around us. Having these conversations, with the exception of (you guessed it) music, are my favorite things to do outsid

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it works, and by "it" I mean the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have seen the Atonement of Jesus Christ change me for the better; I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have been able to use it to connect with my Heavenly Father; I have listened to the counsels of our living prophet, President Monson, and have been able to apply his inspiration to my own life. All of these things and more have benefited me in ways I am still figuring out to this day. When people think of a Mormon life, they think of the restrictions and responsibilities - the abstinence from alcohol and other drugs, the three hours a week at Church, the 10% tithe we voluntarily pay - but the Mormon life is a great life! It is filled with joy, love, compassion, success, and strength. I truly believe every person on this Earth can benefit from the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know it is true. I know He lives. I know it works.

How I live my faith

Right now I am living and immersing myself in my faith 24/7 as a missionary for the LDS Church. My regular day includes two hours of scripture study, teaching others about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and providing meaningful service to the people of California. As a missionary, I teach almost anyone who is interested in hearing the Mormon message - a message of love, peace, and transformation through the atonement of Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon.
