Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in the United States. I finished my eagle scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was on the cross country running team and the track team in high school. I enjoy spending time with my family and I have especially enjoyed the vacations that we have gone on together. I also was a member of the band playing the french horn, and have played the piano for many years now. Many great experiences in my life come from my involvement in the Boy Scouts of America, and through camping, hiking, running, and swimming I have gained a great love for the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes sense to me. As I have studied the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have felt peace. It just feels right to me. I have been privileged to read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price, and I have prayed to God to know if they are true. After I prayed, I felt peace, and I felt really good. I have realized that when I live God's laws, I am able to be happy and be successful, but when I make a mistake, I feel bad because I am not doing what God wants me to do, and not becoming the person that he wants me to be. I also have seen God's power in my life to help me to be good if I am willing to let Him guide me. Because of all this and many experiences, I know that God is real, and that His son Jesus Christ died for us so that we could live again after death, and also so that we can repent and be forgiven of our sins. I know that only through Jesus Christ can we live with God and our family again after we die if we are willing to repent and do our best to become like God and His son Jesus Christ. I know that if you are willing to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it is true, and you really want to know, God will manifest the truth of it to you by His spirit because He did that for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the way that I know I should. I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't do any other drugs. I do my best to help others with their needs, and I also try to be a friend to those who need one. I go to church every Sunday and I help others to know that I am willing to always do the things which are given to me by Jesus Christ to help me to keep my life going in a direction that will lead me to become more like Him.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is our Father in Heaven. We believe that He sent His son Jesus Christ, our brother, to earth to atone for our sins so that we can return to live with Him again. We believe that since He is our father, He loves us and wants the best for us. That is why God sent Jesus to the earth: to take the punishment for our sins so that if we are willing to repent and to do our best to follow the commandments that He has given us, we can come back to live with Him in Heaven again. We believe that God has a body of flesh and bone, but it is a perfect body. God's body looks like our bodies, for we are created in the image of God. (Genesis 1) Though His body may look like ours, it has no faults. God is all powerful. God can do anything, but He will not take away our agency that He has given us, otherwise known as our ability to choose. God wants all of His children to come back to Him, but some choose to reject His commandments and not listen to Him. This is why there is so much inequality and war in the world: because His children, people like you and me, choose to use their agency and disobey God's commandments. Because He loves them so much, He lets them make their own choices. Show more Show less
