Hi I'm Rachel McKinley

I love being a Mormon and I know the gospel is true.

About Me

I grew up in a family with 5 other siblings. My entire family can speak a Chinese dialect (whether it be Mandarin or Cantonese). I love music a lot. I can sing, play piano and violin/viola. I am a student at Southern Virginia University studying Music Education and Biology. I am about to serve my mission in Vietnam, Hanoi and I'm really excited to be serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was adopted into my family at four months old. I was born in a providence called Pho Tho in North Vietnam. I was miraculously adopted despite all of the odds being against me. Throughout my life, I have declared the gospel truths and as I do so, I know the power of the Lord is with me. He has guided my life despite my mistakes and he will never forsake me. I know this to be the true church because of the strength the Lord gives me in my life. I love being a Mormon because it blesses my life in so many significant ways and it protects me from many harms of the world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through exemplifying a Christlike love for others. I love to serve others, I think the greatest people are those who have the selfless desire to serve another person. I love to feel the spirit through the power of music. I think hymns and music are one of the greatest ways to show the Savior our love for him.

What is being a Mormon like?

Rachel McKinley
Being a Mormon is trying your best to be like Christ. It means showing a love for another person without any prejudice or judgement because you know they also are a child of Heavenly Father. By keeping a close relationship with God through scripture study and prayer, He can provide comfort in your life through difficult times and trials. By focusing on family and service to others, Heavenly Father can guide you on the best path to return to Him so you can be happy. Show more Show less
