Hi I'm Marilyn

I grew up in Idaho. I am married to a wonderful man and we have 6 children. I taught middle school for 18 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life, I love to be around other people and learn from them. I loved teaching school because I taught life skills to 12-14 year olds. I love to garden, sew, cook, read and serve. I am married to a wonderful man who takes such good care of me. My husband is the love of my life. We have 6 children, all are married and have their own families. They have given us 23 grandchildren. We love to be together for family events. We love to play and work together especially on Sundays when we can have family time and dinners together after attending our church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a Mormon. I had two wonderful parents who taught me truths of the gospel and showed me it was true because of the ways they lived their lives. But there came a point in my life that I needed to know for myself if the gospel was true. I needed to gain my testimony that all I had been taught was true and I didn't feel this way just because my parents had said so. I didn't have a earth stopping experience to tell me "Yes, it is true" but strong feelings when I read the scriptures, prayed for an answer, listened to church leaders testify of its truthfulness and received direction and promptings for important life questions. I could feel the Savior's presence in my daily life as I was directed in choices I needed to make. This gave me the assurance that I was not alone and that my Savior would always be with me as I made choices that drew me closer to Him. I came to a realization that I have always known the gospel was true but yet needed to put my faith more fully in my Heavenly Father. I know He lives and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He sent his son to make it possible that I would be able to return to live with Him again if I would repents of my sins and follow Him. Understanding why I am here and where I am going after my life is over brings deep meaning into my life. Knowing that I can return to my Heavenly Father and live with my husband and all our family forever is the great knowledge to be blessed with. Life continues forever after we die and to be eternally with those I love is the greatest blessing in my life through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Our community is a great place to raise our family. I love to attend community events such as plays and musicals, special speakers and our grandkids' school activities. I choose to attend events that are uplifting and make me feel joy in my life. I seek out good things that help me live a better life and make me want to be a better person. Serving in the community helps me follow my Savior and live my faith better. In my church I have served in many organizations for the children and youth of our church as a teacher and leader. I have also served in our women's organization as a leader and music specialist. My faith is my life because everyday my faith gives me purpose for everything I do. Because I know my purpose for being here on earth and where I want to be after my time on earth is over, my actions dictate how I choose to live my faith. I love the Savior Jesus Christ and strive to always follow Him. He is my example and because of this I want to be like and and do what He has asked me to do. One of these things he as asked is to share the gosple message with others. That is one reason why my husband and I are leaving our home and will spend 18 months sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what He has asked us to do. Serving others and teaching the purpose in life shows the Savior how much I love Him and help others come back into His fold.

What is the difference between attending a church and attending a temple?

Marilyn
Anyone who desires may attend a Mormon Church meeting. In these church meetings all members of the church are taught how to live their lives in accordances with the teaching of Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity for all to learn of the Savior's teachings and how these teachings applied can bring us closer to the Savior and prepare ourselves to live with Him again. We are taught each week in special meeting called Sacrament Meeting and in individual classes these truths that help us live closer to our Savior. In Sacrament Meeting we partake of bread and water, called the Sacrament, which represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ. In a temple, only worthy members of the church are allowed to enter the temple because we believe that this is truly the House of the Lord where will will receive those sacred ordinances that we will need for eternal life. we need to prove ourselves worthy before we can enter the temple because of the sacred nature of the temple. We believe husbands and wives are sealed (married) together with their families in the temples which makes it possible for our families to be eternal families. Show more Show less
