Hi I'm Olivia

I grew up in Southern Alberta, Canada. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a family of 8 - we are a very energetic group! I love to run, hike, canoe, rock-climb, snowshoe, off-road in my jeep, camp and do just about any other outdoor activity! I love to be outside in the sun. I have played the piano since I was about 5 years old. My family loves music! I often find myself playing through my royal conservatory repertoire on the piano for hours on end when I have the day off. My siblings and I also love to sing and play on the ukulele and guitar together! I have worked at the Running Room for about 2 years as both a sales associate, assistant manager, and a (clinic) running instructor. I worked at the Lethbridge location for about a year and half, and recently transferred to the Ottawa Westboro location! I am living in an adorable, chic downtown apartment with my sister Kate who is one year older than me. I graduated high-school in May of 2016 and took a semester of university in my home town before moving to Ontario. I recently submitted my mission papers and received my call just a few short weeks ago. I have been called to serve as a missionary or a representative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Germany Berlin Mission! I will report to begin my mission training in the summer of 2017. I will be preaching the gospel in the German language.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the peace I have found in this gospel is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. I have found comfort in knowing that there is a plan for me - that I am an eternal being and can dwell with my Father in heaven again one day if I but accept His will and strive to be like Him. I have prayed, studied and come to know for myself through the power of the Holy Ghost that this gospel contains the full truth and is the means by which I can receive salvation and ultimately live with my Heavenly Father again. The principles taught in this gospel surround an all encompassing idea of love and of mutual respect and care for our brothers and sisters here on this earth. This gospel gives me motivation to become the best person that I have potential to be. I am a Mormon because I KNOW that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of old. He is the man who restored this beautiful gospel to this earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true; that the experiences, counsels, warnings, promises and immeasurable blessings contained are for US. This book was translated correctly through the powers of the Holy Ghost. I have read the Book of Mormon several times as I have grown up and have realized my sure testimony that this book is the keystone of our religion and that the truths within it are essential for us as God's children to study and accept. I know that this church is not only true, but that it contains the FULL truth. I am a Mormon because practicing a Mormon faith has brought me closer to God than I have ever been.

How I live my faith

In my ward out here in Ontario, I serve as a counselor in a women's organization called the Relief Society. I have the wonderful opportunity of getting to know each of the women involved in this group on a more personal level. I help them achieve their goals and find peace and comfort in the joy of our gospel. Back home in my Lethbridge ward in Alberta, I served as a musical chairman meaning that I organized a ward choir and organized musical numbers for meetings every few weeks. I often got to participate in these musical numbers! I absolutely loved this calling because of my passion for music and the spirit that can be felt through it. In my community in Lethbridge, I volunteered at the St. Therese Old Folk's Home. In this capacity, I learned so much about the elders of my community and made some very good friends who I will always appreciate and look up to. From dance parties, brunches, ice-cream dates, trips to the community strawberry fields, or weekend drives on the city's edge, we would laugh endlessly and have so much fun with one another! I found so much good in the hearts of these marvelous men and women and will always be grateful for my opportunity to serve with them. I also volunteered at the humane society in Lethbridge for a few years and, as you could guess, LOVED my time there on the weekends with all the adorable puppies as I groomed and fed them and took them for walks.
