Hi I'm Jim Cole

Among other things I'm a Mormon. I'm an grandpa, kept young by my grand kids. I have loved the outdoors as long as I can remember.

About Me

I'm a father of four and grandfather of fourteen. My wife and I celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary last year. I'm an outdoorsman, having been a hunter and sometimes fisherman for as long as I can remember. I retired as a wildlife biologist about twelve years ago. I love baseball and can still remember the day at ten years of age when I opened the newspaper in the summer of 1948 to the headline, Babe Ruth Dies."

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church due to the persistent example of my wife and friends in the church. I investigated the church for about fourteen years. I found our friends in the church in Butte, Montana, cared for me whether on not I became a member of the church . . . they walked the talk. The gospel became very real to me when I allowed the Savior to enter my life . . . when I prayed with the genuine intent to receive answers, when I read the scriptures with the expectation to learn, and when I anticipated the Spirit to touch my life. My witness of the truth continues to grow on an almost daily basis as my understanding of the Lord's Plan expands. I have lived both with and without the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life and I know life is more complete with His presence.

How I live my faith

Since my conversion to the LDS faith at age 37, I have continuously served in a wide variety of callings. I have served as Scoutmaster in three different wards. I've served in various priesthood leadership roles throughout the years and I find the fellowship in these callings to be key to my active membership. With my wife I served a records preservation mission to the State of Indiana where we microfilmed public records to be used in family history research. We are about to embark on another mission calling within the boundary of our Stake. I also served two different stints in the Bountiful, Utah, temple. Without question service is the most important element for my church activity.
