Hi I'm Nathan Tenney

I was born and raised in Arizona, just graduated high school, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love where I come from and am a proud Arizonan. Ive grown up loving sports and competing in Cross Country, Tennis, Track, and Baseball. In my free time I love to hike and explore the mountains of the Sonoran Desert as well as pretty much any activity outdoors. My music tastes are pretty diverse but mostly what I love to listen to is country. I'm very interested in foreign language, history, and literature.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've felt the love of Christ so strongly in my life that I want to keep it with me, and in doing so strive to make every effort to live like Christ. I grew up in the church but started making small mistakes that eventually led to a destructive lifestyle that was leading me nowehere. Getting mixed up with bad friends led me down this path for most of high school and left me with many regrets. Eventually I was struggling to find purpose and meaning in my life, and the examples of many close friends, my mom, my bishop, and others led me to start having a desire to change my life arou nd for the better. I had to choose for myself how I wanted to live, and this involved reading the scriptures and praying for myself to know if they were true. My senior year of seminary was crucial in learning how to change when we started studying the New Testament. I was awestruck and dumbfounded at the pure love that Jesus had for everybody he interacted with, and I wanted so much to share that love I've felt with everybody else. It didn't come all at once, but I felt the love of Christ through the Holy Ghost and knew that his gospel is true and was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I've also felt the Spirit confirm to me the truth that Jesus Christ directs his church today through his living prophet Thomas S. Monson. I haven't felt as much peace and happiness in my life as when I'm reading the Book of Mormon, and I know that it is, as Joseph Smith stated, "the most correct of any book on Earth, and that a man would get nearer to God by abiding by it's precepts than by any other book." The most important factors in my personal conversion was turning my heart to Christ, because I know that God loves us and cares for each one of us individually. He knows our needs and answers our prayers. We are his children and he has prepared the way, through his son Jesus Christ, to return to live with him again. All of this he's because he loves us, and I think that's amazing.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying every day to follow the teachings of Christ and be an example to everybody I come in contact with. Part of this includes exercising that faith by attending church, participating in youth programs, hometeaching assignments, and service opportunities. I am soon going to be living my faith by serving a full-time mission in the Italy Milan Mission for two years.
