Hi I'm Sister Lauralee Yount

I love naps, books, and learning. I love helping people reach their full potential. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents divorced when I was very young. For that reason, I was born in Utah but grew up in Maine with my mom and with grandparents just down the road. I later returned to Utah for my high school years and just finished my first semester of college here in Utah. I have learned to love both places over the years for the unique experiences each gave me. I am a proud sister, an avid reader and learner, and Disney and Harry Potter fan. Each day I learn to love and grow the relationship I cherish with my family and with my Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since I was little, my family has taught me about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned about Jesus Christ and His role as our Savior, about our purpose on earth and the plan to follow Jesus Christ's example to return to Heavenly Father, and about the restoration of the gospel on the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith and the translation of the Book of Mormon. They continually urged me to gain a knowledge of these things for myself, but for a while, I simply believed, and that's the first step. It wasn't until I was independently reading the Book of Mormon for the first time that I gained the firm knowledge I sought. After reading and studying the stories of faith and hope in Jesus Christ over generations in the Americas of old, I asked Heavenly Father, for a knowledge that the things I had read within that book - and which I had been taught and believed my whole life - were true. I will never forget the answer. After several moments of feeling my knees press hard against the floor, I distinctly felt a peace and warmth in my heart wash over my whole body, like stepping into a warm bath. Then I felt the words in my mind, "You have always known." And so I had. Throughout my life to that point, I had felt that warm feeling while learning about Jesus Christ and His gospel, and I still do. I learn more each day as I continue to act in Christ's name by strengthening others and my own personal connection with Him. I know that we are on this earth to gain knowledge and learning though Heavenly Father and His plan for us. I know that He loves and cares about each one of us. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth to act as an example for and suffer for all the bad things each and every one of us have felt individually. He cares about us and wants us to succeed. I know that He can give us the love and comfort we crave in that time of need. Through Him, we can receive a knowledge of truth and live up to our potential as sons and daughters of God.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am a missionary for my church serving the Lord by teaching others about Him and the good news He offers to all the people of the world. I am preparing each and every day to grow and practice my faith in Jesus Christ so that I may share the light, happiness, and peace He has brought to my life as I continue to live His gospel. I continually try to live as Jesus Christ did by serving and loving people with the charity He did - in my family, with my friends, in my church, in my neighborhood, and with everyone I happen to meet.
