Hi I'm Kariya

I love my family. I love my cats. I love this gospel.

About Me

I've been a member of the church my entire life, but it wasn't until recent that I became more active. I love to sing, despite not having the greatest voice ever, and I love to run. Oh and I also love cats! I'm currently a college student, but I will be putting that on halt as I will be serving the Lord for 18 months in Nebraska. I love my family immensely and would do anything for them, so to leave them for 18 months will be hard, but I know that the joy and happiness I'll be sharing with others will make it worth the spilt. And within this last year, I have learned how much I love to make people happy. Whether it be my family, a friend, a coworker, or a complete stranger, if I can make them smile or laugh, my day is complete.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up Mormon so I ended up taking this gospel for granted. I didn't truly understand the importance of what I was being taught, which is why a couple years ago, when I went through a very challenging trial, my faith dwindled. Fortunately for me, I found the light and I've never looked back. This gospel means everything to me and I know that without it, my life wouldn't be the way it is. The happiness I feel now, I know I would never be able to find anywhere else. I know this gospel is true, that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that there is a living prophet on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I try each and every day to live as Christ would have, and I can see how that has impacted my life. Things like patience, love, charity I never really thought of much, but now that I'm trying to use them in my day to day life, it has honestly blessed me in so many ways. I know who I am as a person and who I can be if I continue on this path I'm following. Some may think that the standards I've chosen to follow, like not drinking alcohol or coffee or dressing modestly, are restrictive, but to me, they give me freedom.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Look all around you and you will find your answer. The trees, the sky, the sun and moon, the birds you hear in the morning, everything shows that there is a God. A God who loves us, who make it easy for us to remember him each day, a God that created this beautiful world for us to live in. There are so many intricate beauties of life, so many complex creations, that its hard to believe they came by any other means than by God creating them. No matter where you look, everything was formed and made by God and without his loving touch, there would be nothing. Show more Show less
