Hi I'm Richard Thrift

I was born in the United Kingdom, I am a filmmaker, I started 2 schools in Ghana, I am a Latter-day Saint.

About Me

I am a convert to the Church. I left for some time and now have returned to the fold. I make films, I enjoy playing the guitar as a hobby and singing. I lived in Africa for 8 years, established two schools and, was acting on screen and in theatre. I know the Church is true, the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and Joseph Smith was a prophet of the Most High.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I saw the Gospel in action in the lives of the Missionaries who would knock on the door. I saw the love of God, and have experienced first hand, the love of God, and the fellowship of true Christian brotherhood. I was brought up a Jehovah's Witness, but was never happy. I was always confused by the teachings, and felt they were disingenuous one to another, which was proven right. I was confused by the number of churches that existed and the number of mixed messages. I left the Witnesses and got mixed up in a bad crowd, doing a lot of drugs and alcohol. After finally accepting the offer to have the Elders teach me about the Plan of Salvation, and reading the Book of Mormon then asking God if it was true, I felt the Holy Ghost affirm it to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by taking baby steps, not pretending I can walk on my own strength, and owning up to my mistakes and shortcomings. I like to fellowship with strong members of the Church including my Bishop, Home Teacher and, the Elders. I like to offer service and be of help where and when I can.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Richard Thrift
The family is core to the Church. Through family and relationships, we learn about the love of God, and how to show that love to one another. Family is also eternal, and so, building a strong family in the Lord here on earth means we can, through the covenants and promises of God, live eternally together as a family. Show more Show less
