Hi I'm Dominique Kater

I grew up in South Africa. Emigrated to Australia and now a citizen. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three and a grandmother. I enjoy interacting with people but have a low tolerance of displays of bigotry and unkind/cruel actions towards people and animals. I have practiced martial arts for 5 years, have engaged in further studies in the nursing field as well as the laboratory field as a mature aged student. I enjoy reading and going to the movies with my children, all adults now, and enjoy having a really good laugh as often as possible. Music is also something I enjoy listening to, and for all the bad that there is in our world today, I like to look for the good first. I go by the motto to never judge a book by it's cover. Everybody has a story as to why they are the way they are, and there is no one person that is better than the next simply because of their ethnic background and which family they have been born into. We are all equal in God's eyes, and it is our behaviour towards ourselves and others that will determine which kingdom we will end up in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Catholic family and raised as one, practiced as one for 36 years of my life, mainly out of duty and respect to my late father. For about 20 of those years, I have always felt deep in my spirit that this was not the church for me. No disrespect to the many beautiful people in the Catholic church, I just felt that the leadership of this church was not quite in accordance with the gospel. It always felt, to me personally, that the laws and regulations of the catholic church, were more for what the leaders wanted for themselves as apposed to God's laws and commandments. My husband and me were refused the right to get married in church because of a ruling that was made relating to a piece of paper that was required. My husband's original as well as the copy of it had gone missing. That was 23 years ago. A priest denied my youngest sister the right to get confirmed in the church because he told my father he did not know her. That was 30 year ago. When my husband and 3 children emigrated to Australia, I investigated a few churches here, and eight years later I finally chose the one true church to become a member of, after much praying and deliberations, and because of the many missionaries that have I have been blessed to meet with and have lessons with.

How I live my faith

I live my life, and always have tried to, by the gospel, to the best of my abilities and try to be the best example I can be for my children. Recently I have been asked to serve as secretary for the young woman's society in our ward (Leischenault, Western Australia), which I consider to be a huge honour and am looking forward to being the best that I can be in my role.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Dominique Kater
The angel Moroni revealed the golden plates that held the writings and testimonies of the prophets to Joseph Smith and the Holy Spirit gave him the gift or translation, but only after 3 years had passed. He then proceeded to write the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
