Hi I'm Kara Reed

I love being outdoors, traveling, and taking pictures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child in my family. I have an older sister and a younger brother. I play tennis and love to spend time in Utah's beautiful mountains. I like to ski in the winter and hike during the fall, spring, and summer. I am currently a freshman in college with an undeclared major. I have been to England, Ireland, Wales, France, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, and the Bahamas. I love traveling and look forward to visiting and learning about more countries around the world throughout my lifetime.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As I have grown up, I have come to know for myself that this is the true church. I can feel it. I feel it when I read the scriptures, especially The Book of Mormon. I feel it when I attend church each Sunday. I feel it when I pray to God, my loving Heavenly Father. I cannot deny these feelings. I know that God lives. I know this simply by looking at the world around me. All of the beautiful creations, the mountains, the oceans, the animals, testify that He is real. I know that God loves each of His children with an unimaginable magnitude of love. We are God's children. I feel joy when I live my life in a way that is pleasing to God. God has a plan for us. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to come to Earth and suffer for the sins and struggles of every person who has ever lived and who will ever live. Because of Jesus Christ, we are able to turn away from our sins and be forgiven. This enables us to become perfected through Christ and to follow God's plan for our happiness. Joy comes from and because of God. He is the source of all joy. I choose to be a Mormon because I want to be with my family forever. I want to return to live with God again. By following His teachings, I will be able to accomplish these things and experience true happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best each day to love others. Jesus Christ was the perfect example of this. He loved everyone with perfect love. Christ demonstrated His love for others by serving them. I look for daily opportunities to serve others. Sometimes my service to others consists of a friendly hello or a smile. Other times it involves helping my elderly neighbor with yard work or giving my brother a ride to soccer practice. I enjoy serving others because it makes me feel happy inside. I have never regretted helping someone out, but I have regretted when I neglect to help someone out. I also participate in organized service projects ranging from church sponsored service activities to school sponsored service projects to volunteer service at a retirement center in my neighborhood. I love the joy that service brings to me in my life as I follow the example of Jesus Christ. I also live my faith by participating in church leadership positions. Before I moved to Provo for college, I worked with women in my ward ranging from ages 12-18. As I served in this position, my job was to be a friend to the girls in this group. I also helped plan activities for these youth. Since moving to college, I have received new leadership positions. A girl in my church and I have been assigned to visit two girls in our local congregation. Our job is to help these girls out with anything they might need as well as visit them once a month to share a spiritual message. In addition to this position, I have also been assigned to serve those who are in need of help in my local congregation. I love the happiness I feel when I live my faith by serving others.
