Hi I'm Sharon Shaw

I was born and raised in the church. I married a Mormon and we raised our four children in the church. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the baby of my family of six. I grew up in an area where there are a lot of Mormon people. I graduated from High School and attended college for one and a half years. I became engaged to my husband who had served a mission for the church. We had met in high school, and wrote during his mission. We married in the LDS Temple, and we believe that we can be together forever with our children if we live righteously. I also have grandchildren whom we love dearly. I hope to always be a good influence in their life's.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my family I was born into were members. My parents were always active and held church callings throughout my childhood. I had good Mormon friends and we had the same lifestyles and goals. When I was old enough I knew that I needed to have my own testimony of the church and its teachings. I read the Book of Mormon and I knew it was true. I knew that living the gospel brought me love and joy. As I have had callings in the church and have served on our missions, my testimony has become even stronger. I love the Lord and I recognize his hand in my life and in the life's of my family.

How I live my faith

We are currently serving a mission in the Nauvoo Temple. We will serve one year here. In the past we have served two other missions. Our first mission was in the Madrid Spain Temple, where we served for eighteen months. Our second mission was a call we received for three years, in the Marshall Islands Mission. My husband was the Mission President there, and we have loved all of our missions. Our children and grandchildren have been so supportive. We know that we and they have received many blessings during our service.

What is being a Mormon like?

One of the greatest reasons for being here on earth is to "have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Personal prayer, scripture study, and attending church helps us better understand that the best way to find joy and happiness in this life is to know about Our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to strive to keep God's "law" (Proverbs 29:18). Families are an essential part of God's Plan and much of how we live focuses on our families. We want to share the happiness we enjoy with everyone we can through service, missionary work, and contributing to society. Show more Show less
