Hi I'm Mikaela

I'm an Art History student at BYU. I'm currently serving a mission in Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There are six kids in my family and I love playing with them. We excel at card games and homemade ice cream usually accompanies every family gathering. I love learning about art and I dabble at drawing. If I see a sprinkler going, I will run through it, no question. I love all sorts of music and I love singing along with every song, even though I rarely know any of the lyrics. My favorite color is green, because my favorite thing in the world is the world, and all of nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and I know it is true. Because it is true, I know that the restored Gospel is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up in the church, but I didn't always know of it's truthfulness. Once I moved away from home to college, I realized that I did not have my own testimony. I wanted to change that, I wanted to know that I was attending the right church. So I prayed and read the Book of Mormon, and when I read it, I felt a profound peace and at the end of every page. I could see and feel that it was from ancient prophets, translated by Joseph Smith by the power of God. There is such joy to be found in the gospel truths. Because of the Gospel, I know that this life is not the end, and that I can be with my family forever in the afterlife. That reason alone brings me such peaceful assurance. I love this Gospel and I could not be truly happy without it.

How I live my faith

I attend my local ward every Sunday and I love taking the Sacrament there. Recently, I had a calling on the temple committee, in which we planned trips to go to the temple as a ward. I am about to leave on a full-time mission to Brazil, where I will be finding people to share the joys of this Gospel with.
