Hi I'm Joseph Sorensen

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a young adult heading out on a mission. That sentence in itself is a miracle for me. I was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain condition and as far as I'm aware i'm the only one in the world with it. The condition effected my physical performance. I was taken off sports, so I had to find another way to enjoy life. And man did I find it! I joined the ballroom dance program, the school choir, started creative writing, and along with all of those dove right into the gospel. My condition deteriorated and everyone prepared for the worst, but I felt God's love and assurance that I'd make it through. With all the courage I could muster, I went through painful surgeries that left 20 or so stitches down my head. The shock of the surgery left me with several seizures over the next month that eventually led to a grand mal seizure. scariest thing I've ever experienced. But with the Lord's help and the support of my friends and family, I made it through. Since that time I've made a good recovery and have been cleared to serve a full time mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but I never was truly converted until around 17 when my seminary teacher told me that in order to graduate seminary I had to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover on my own. I had read through it with my family before, and had many lessons, but it wasn't until I read it for myself that it began to make sense, and bare testimony to me through the spirit. When I finished I knew without a doubt it was true. which meant everything else about the church had to be true as well. Over the years I've gained a better testimony of different principles and ordinances in the gospel, that have strengthened me even more. I search for truth and light, and I found it in the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love singing. My truest testimony is born through music. I sing in every choir and youth group that forms and have performed in a number of school and community musicals. I like to write soundtrack music. I believe that true music is inspired of heaven. I may only be a simple musician, but that's how I know best to share my faith with others.
