Hi I'm Kalio

I am from the Hawaiian islands, born on Oahu but moved to Big Island! I love to hang out with family and friends. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to go to the beach and just hangout! Adventuring is something I have to do at least once a week or I feel sick. I usually try to go around the island to find a waterfall or something. In fact, sometimes I even like to jump off of them! My parents think that I am totally crazy, but I think its just me trying to live life. My mom was born a member and my dad was always against the church. In fact, he never wanted us to get baptized, but by praying everyday for the lord to try and soften his heart, he finally let us! By "us" I mean my siblings and I. There are 6 of us each two years apart except for my baby brother! My older sister is 22, I am 20, and so on and so forth until the 2nd youngest brother who is 14. My parents decided to have their sixth baby and he is 3 now! He is the one person I am going to miss the most when I leave for my mission! I leave in just about 16 days to the Provo, MTC and I serve my mission in Orem, Utah! Right outside of the MTC haha! I am excited to serve the lord and can't wait to serve the people of Utah!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I always knew about the church because of my mother being a member but I never really found it interesting. Not until I got to the age of 14 that is. That year was a hard year for my family because we were losing our loved ones one right after the other. When my baby cousin had died it hit me hard and then my grandpa passed away and I couldn't take it. I just kept questioning why do all these people have to go. The next day my mom invited the missionaries over to our house so that we could feed them dinner, and usually when they came we went in the room to hide! This time I happened to be passing by when I heard one of them say to me "Did you know that you can be with your families forever"? I stopped and was intrigued so I went to him to start to learn more and I got so interested in the conversation that my siblings came out and were listening with me too! The lord has an amazing plan that allows us to be with our family forever and the only thing we have to do is live the gospel! I know this church is true and I see how its blessed not only my life but my families life as well!

How I live my faith

I have been called to be my branch's Sunday School President and I love my calling! It's helped me grow closer to all the people of this church and it is such an amazing experience. I love getting to know the youth and hanging out with them because when I was a youth that was the best time of my life. My calling is such a blessing because I get to teach classes to them and it's really helping me prepare for my mission. Recently, a youth in my ward had some problems going on at school and needed some advice but was too scared to talk to his parents. I prayed about his problem and gave him advice the next time I seen him and can see that it really changed his life!
