Hi I'm Verity

I grew up in the UK, England. I finished full time education and I decided to serve mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have just finished full time education and I am currently on my way to serve a full time mission. I plan to go to university, I'm still uncertain of what I feel I should do in terms of a career, serving a mission I believe will help me gain a clearer understanding of what it is I really see myself doing 2-5 years down the line, originally I wanted to do more hands on work such as disaster management and humanitarian aid,I am also considering a career in peacekeeping, military or law enforcement. I know that whatever path I chose that it will all work out in the end because there will always be opportunities out there. I'm currently still at a very interesting and role defining point in my life and I know that if I work hard and stay true it will all be well in the end.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of this church because it has taught me so much about this life and about God, because of the Book of Mormon I found out about Heavenly Father's love for me, what is the correct way to live in order to obtain lasting joy and I learnt about how Christ redeemed all of mankind and gave himself as sacrifice for sin in order to satisfy the eternal law, so that we may be able to conquer death just like Christ did. these are incredible truths! I find that every time I contemplate these things that more and more I realise things about myself as to why certain things happen and why I and others are the way we are, I also realise that in this world one thing remains evident; that God loves us. I know that it is by the power of the Holy Ghost that testifies of Christ and that no other truth burns as bright as this; that God loves us and Jesus Christ lives and he will come again and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by remembering God and Jesus Christ every Sunday, by listening to the principles of the gospel and remembering the promises I have made to God and to myself. I am currently responsible for the young single adults in my community, making sure they feel cared for and also organising wholesome activities for them to participate in. I feel that to live by my faith that I also had to act upon my beliefs, if I believe people should be kind and considerate to others then I must lead by example, because faith without works is dead. My faith is lived through my actions and how I conduct myself on a daily basis, if I believe in Jesus Christ then surely I will be acting in such a way that he would not find disapproving because if I really have faith then I know that there is a certain way we should not be. I would hope that people saw how I act and how I am and that my faith and beliefs were a reflection of how I was; if I have faith in acting righteously and compassionately then I should be seen to be acting this way.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, there will always be prophets, if God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow then why would he stop communicating with us? There is a prophet in every dispensation because God will not leave us without instructions and God will never stop communicating or trying to communicate with us, because he loves us and wants us to live worthily so we can one day become like him and Jesus Christ, part of that requires modern day revelation applicable to our times and society, thus he has called a modern day prophet- Thomas . S. Monson to instruct the church. Show more Show less
