Hi I'm Derrith Scarbrough

I was born in San Francisco California and have lived all over the US. I am a quilter. I am a Mormon.

About Me

As a Navy family, we moved all over the U.S. while raising our children. They were always the new kids in school. Having a church "family" everywhere we went made the transition so much easier for all of us. I have worked as a book keeper, Teller, and Cashier, Insurance Sales Person and a Secretary over the years. I love dancing, traveling, antiquing and making quilts. I am very social and have organized many parties for all age groups in the church. I also organize clubs and interest groups, which helps people make friends. Family time is golden for me. I love spending time with my grown children and my grand children. My parents lived to be in their late ninety's. They were strong and faithful members of the church their entire lives and served as a great example to me and my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised from birth in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents were a wonderful example to me of what it means to be a Mormon. I always felt at home in the church. When I went away to college, I was able to develop a testimony for myself. I found through experience that living the teachings of Christ made life so much easier and living with a clean conscience brought peace of mind. Throughout my life, the decision to be a Mormon had been rewarded with happiness, peace, and many spiritual experience where I received a confirmation of the spirit that the gospel was true. The more I see the unhappiness in the world brought on by sin and it's ramifications, the more I am glad that I choose to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith is intregal part of my life. It influences everything I do. I have served in many positions or "callings" within the church. I have worked with the teenage youth on many occasions. I have enjoyed teaching them gospel lessons as well as working with them on drama productions and dance festivals. I have also worked in the Women's organization of the church, teaching gospel lessons, visiting inactive members and those who are ill or needing special attention. I also have helped bring in meals to those in need. I have recently been serving with young children which has truly blessed my life. The basic principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ guide my actions and decisions I make in life. I strive to be kind and considerate to all of God's children. I strive to be honest in all my dealings with my fellow men. i strive to live my life in a way that would honor the sacrifice Christ made for me and for all of us. I read my scriptures daily and try my best not to judge other people.
