Hi I'm Michelle

I was born and raised in Layton, Utah. I am currently serving in Texas Fort Worth Mission. Im a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19, serving in Texas Fort Worth, English speaking. I love art and Jesus. I am the second youngest of 5 siblings, and they are my top homies. I am and artist and I love to play tennis. I really really like puns.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church so I had always been a part of the church simply because my parents were LDS. However growing up and being taught the principles of the gospel I didn't understand it. There came a time where, during my parents divorce I asked why me, I tried so hard to do everything God has asked of me and this was too much. So I fell away, feeling unloved, hurt, unworthy, betrayed in a sort of way. From age 13 I was in and out of the gospel. The end of my sophmore year of High School to the second semester of my senior year I stopped going to church and participating in the activities. I decided it wasn't for me. Never have I ever been as unhappy as I was in those two years. I was struggling with everything including the will to live, I was lost, confused and broken. I decided to attend Seminary for the first time in a while and we were asked to pray about how we can improve, at this point I was looking for anything to help, so I prayed for the first time in a long time and asked what I could do, what do you want from me. That next morning my brother had sent me a text with nothing but a scripture attached to it. Doctrine&Covenants 121:7-9. There was no way he knew what I had prayed for or that the scripture he sent was what I needed. It then became clear to me, that my Heavenly Father just wanted me to hold on, don't give up yet, all of these things you're going through are worth it. So I stopped asking Why Me? in my trials and started asking Whats God trying to teach me. From then on I learned that He loved me so much and I learned that the atonement isn't something I earn, I don't have to prove my worth or save myself Jesus Christ as already suffered and taken upon my sins so I don't have to. I had been changed through the atonement. I didn't have to earn Heaven but just to learn and to become more like my Father in heaven, these emotions and realizations followed with so much joy and revelation that this is the true and everlasting Gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures regularly and making sure I communicate to my Heavenly Father daily. I live my faith by serving, and trying to do what Jesus would do. I live my faith by going to the temple as often as I can. I live my faith through my example.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Michelle
No unclean thing can enter into the presence of God. In everyday life I make mistakes making me unclean and unable to enter into the Kingdom of God. This would be the fate of all of us were it not for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Christ took upon the sins of the world and died on the cross for our sake, so through repentance and faith, through being baptized and confirmed under proper authority, receiving the wonderful Gift of the Holy Ghost and through obeying God's commandments and receiving those sacred ordinances and striving to become like Him, Christ made it possible for us to Live with our Heavenly Father again in His Holy Kingdom and with out His atonement it would never be possible. He paid the price so that we would never be alone. We are saved by his Grace (the atonement) after all we can do, We being us and Christ. Christ as already paved the path and taken upon everything for you and I. As we us the atonement in our everyday lives we can learn and grow and be changed by his grace. Show more Show less
