Hi I'm Leslie

I love my family, nature, traveling, yoga, helping others, learning and painting. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of four (three are married, one is in high school). I am married to my best friend and have two adorable granddaughters. I have a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Development. I volunteer as a CASA (court appointed special advocate), working with neglected and abused youth in the foster care system. I enjoy working with teens at the local high school as a mentor. I am also a team leader with Days For Girls, a humanitarian non-profit which provides sustainable feminine hygiene kits to girls in third world countries so they can stay in school, get an education and avoid exploitation.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, it wasn't until I was a teenager that I wanted to find out if I really believed what I had been taught. So I read the Book of Mormon. I found out for myself that it is a true book of scripture. When I was 21, I had sort of a crisis of faith. Again, I found out in a very quiet, intimate way as I prayed that GOD IS REAL. I felt His love. He is mindful of me and you and everyone. He cherishes each of us and knows us to the very depth of our souls. That knowledge has gotten me through the rough, dark times in life. I am grateful for the good news of Jesus Christ--that He lives and loves us! He suffered and died for each of us so that we can repent and live eternally. That brings me a lot of peace! Studying both the Bible and The Book of Mormon have blessed my life. They bear witness of each other and have deepened my love and commitment to my Savior. I am grateful for God's direction in my life. I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet who actually saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because this church brings me a lot of peace. It rings true. It has taught me what I need to do to be happy. Following its' teachings have saved me from a lot of grief and heartaches. It makes me want to be better, kinder and to keep on learning.

How I live my faith

I grew up a "mine, yours and ours" family after my mother died of cancer when I was 5 years old. Eventually, there were 9 kids altogether. Sometimes it was hard. As I grew older and started thinking about who I wanted to become, I decided I wanted to be strong. I realized that a lot of other people had gone through tough times and made it through. I could choose to be happy! I could do hard things. I live my faith by trying to love others unconditionally and be a true follower of Jesus Christ. I try to be a good friend. I want to serve, bless and make the world a better place for having been in it.
