Hi I'm Sarah

I grew up in Utah. I went through school, and began college, and later decided to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old. I went through school, and then began college. I have went to college for 2 semesters, choosing to focus on the Health Science major. I love to play basketball and do almost anything outdoors. Such as camping, fourwheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, etc. During my 2nd semester of college, I received a very strong impression to go on a mission. I was pretty reluctant at first, but am now in the process of preparing for my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know the gospel that this church teaches is true. And I also know that our prophet is a true, modern day prophet. But at the same time, I can't help anyone by simply telling them this. If one was to be searching out truth and answers, they would need to find out for themselves the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, in an effort to help whoever may use this, I'll tell you how I have come to know of the truthfulness of these things. This past summer, I have made an effort to read the whole Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time. During this, I prayed, with a sincere heart, and the best faith that I could come up with at that time that I would receive an answer. I did this in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for the truthfulness of this book to be born witness to me through the Holy Ghost. By the time I had finished the Book of Mormon, I had received a very strong impression of the truthfulness of it, as well as all of the blessings I had received because I had decided to read it. And I know that it was of God. This feeling of confirmation that what I wanted to know was true, is why I am a Mormon. This feeling that you will get as you search the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart and a desire to learn and to grow is not something that we can make up. That feeling is too divine to be confused with things of the world. It is too great for us to force it onto our own heart. Because that feeling is from God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow the commandments that our Heavenly Father has given us. Make no mistake, I am no where near perfect, but the effort makes all the difference. Currently, I am preparing to go on a mission. I am attending a singles ward for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It's just like normal church is except our ward is composed of young single adults. I participate in this ward regularly. Our ward has become more of a family, and everyone is welcome. We have weekly activities that anyone who would like to attend is welcome to. One, for example, is FHE (Family Home Evening), which is held every Monday night. They have fun different activities every week for us, as a ward, to participate in, to get to know each other better, and to help and assist each other in any way we can.

What is faith?

Sarah
Faith is one of my favorite concepts. If you look in the Book of Mormon at Alma 32:21, it defines faith as: "Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; Therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." Faith, hope, and trust (in my opinion), can be used almost interchangeably. They have very very similar meanings. To have faith in God is to hope and trust in him, and then be obedient, and willing to act on this faith. (James 2:17) -- If you look at the footnote for work, it actually describes it as obedience!
