Hi I'm Tanner

I'm from Montana, I study Arabic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Tanner and I lived my whole life in Montana until I started college this Fall down at BYU. I ran cross country for four years for my high school team and still enjoy long distance running. I have been learning Arabic since my freshman year of high school and spent six weeks this summer in Amman, Jordan on a scholarship with the State Department to learn Arabic better. Growing up in Montana I learned to love the outdoors and anything that gets me out in nature. Currently I am studying chemical engineering and enjoying life in the dorms for a year before I go on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

The summer before freshman year of high school, I decided that I needed to know if the Book of Mormon was a true book. Every morning and night I studied, and when I finished the Book of Mormon, I prayed and asked God if the Book of Mormon was a true. The spirit I felt told me that the Book of Mormon was true, and since then, the Church has been the biggest thing in my life. Even though things change in the world we live in, I know that I can always rely on my faith to get me through trials. I'm excited to go out and serve a mission so I can tell people how much God loves them, to help them find the happiness and peace that I have found in my life. I love reading the scriptures, and I get more and more out of them each and every day that I study. I know that Joseph Smith is a chosen prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon is a true book, and I try to base my life off of the principles therein. I love this church and the opportunities I have to serve and teach people about it.

How I live my faith

Since the start of high school, I study the scriptures every morning and night. I take a Book of Mormon class at BYU as well as a mission preparation class. I'm doing everything I can to prepare to serve a mission and am excited to receive a call soon and go out and serve. In my church at home I had a calling with family history and taught people how to fill out their family tree. Coming to BYU, I received the same calling and am excited to continue working with genealogy with a whole new set of people.
