Hi I'm Sam

I'm a son, a brother, an Eagle Scout, and a cellist. I will be serving a mission for the next 2 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful family, and a great place to live. I am currently studying civil engineering at BYU. I gained an interest in it from a civil engineering class I took in high school. I think civil engineers play a very important role in society even though they rarely get credit for it. Soon, I will be going on a 2 year mission in Virginia Chesapeake, and I can't wait to share my faith with the people there! Finally, music is an important part of my life. I have played the cello for about 9 years, and piano before that, (although I can hardly play it anymore!) I love to play church inspired music because it fills the room with the Spirit, and reminds me why God sent us here, to be happy! I also love classical music, and all other kinds of music!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church my whole life, and I know it has blessed my life greatly! When I was younger, of course I didn't have a real testimony that this church was true. It was just something I did. However, I've recently gained a much greater desire to know for myself. I also knew I needed Christ to be forgiven of my sins. I started praying with real intent and a sincere heart to feel the Holy Ghost more strongly in my life. I read the scriptures closely and wrote notes. From these simple actions, and from continuing to keep the sacred covenants I made at baptism, my life has changed! It required a real effort on my part, but it has been so worth it! Now that I am serving a mission, my life will change even more because I have the amazing opportunity to bless other people's lives!

How I live my faith

I am an eagle scout and I have a real interest in my community. I am also very patriotic and believe it is essential for us to exercise our right to vote! In my ward I've held several leadership positions in which I had the opportunity to pray and guide my peers. In the church, we have several of these leadership positions which are designed to build up the members of the church. I've always felt at home at church, and like the members there are my family! Right now I'm taking the biggest step of my life to live my faith. I am leaving home for 2 years to serve the people of Chesapeake Virginia because I believe there are many people there waiting to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ! I love God and my family, and I know His gospel if for everyone!

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

As a missionary myself, I know that what I am teaching is true. My life has changed so much already, and I want others to feel the Savior's love the way I have. If you have any interests or questions about the church, please don't be afraid to talk to the missionaries! They will be friendly and understanding, and really just want to help you be happy.
