Hi I'm Owen Clapp

I'm a SCUBA Diver. I'm an Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was born and raised a protestant christian, specifically Presbyterian. I had always gone to church, but not until my early teenage years did I develop a testimony of Jesus Christ. I am a convert to the church having been Muslim for about 2 years before having joined. I enjoy community service and leadership, especially through the Boy Scouts of America and the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society for the BSA. I have been in many positions in both organizations and love the values that they stand for. I enjoy native american singing, dancing, ceremonies and craft. I am an Eagle Scout with 9 palms. I am an Ordinary Rank Sea Scout. I am a Freshman at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, studying Marine Science/Biology. I really enjoy playing video games, watching Youtube videos, Tai Chi, Wrestling, Running and community service opportunities outside of church activities. I am proud to be a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of Heavenly Father sending me many great people in my life that have blessed me with such great testimonies. I am a Mormon because I had a friend that was willing to read the Book of Mormon in public and share with me the treasure trove of Truth and light that it contains. This same girl gave me one of the books. I am a Mormon because of the tender mercy of the Lord, guiding to a friend who post conversion to this church, told me how much she had changed for the better because of it. Her words pricked my heart and guided me to search out the church myself, which I was able to with her guidance of myself to some local missionaries. The patience of the missionaries in my stubbornness and many questions helped me understand the loving character that this church brings into character, softening unto the scriptures to be changed for the better myself. I am a Mormon because of the blessings of happiness and peace that come from knowing that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the True Church of Christ, that Joesph Smith is a true prophet of God, that President Thomas S. Monson is the current Prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I wish to follow in the footsteps of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and help up-build God's kingdom on Earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in my home teaching assignments, studying the scriptures, prayer, helping serve in my community, helping out missionaries teach lessons to perspective church members, attending church meetings and going to the church scripture study program known as institute. I live my faith by walking in the foot steps of christ, following his example that is laid out for us in the gospel through the scriptures of The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price. I work to bear the name of Christ which I promised to do faithfully to the end of my days upon my baptism and confirmation into this church and take it into the world. I try my best to spread the love that our Heaven Father gives unto others, showing the kindness and mercy of the savior to all I encounter in this world. I live my faith by walking with it everyday and taking pride in it.

What is the priesthood?

Owen Clapp
The Priesthood is God's authority here upon the earth. It is a gift given unto male members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint in order to serve fellow church members and to serve fellow man. It is the same power and responsibility that was given unto Jesus Christ and his apostles that is continued to today in this church. Show more Show less
