Hi I'm Dawn-Marie

I am a blogger who writes about hope and healing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My parents were married in the temple, but divorced when I was 6 weeks old. My mom died when I was 7. I was raised by my grandparents. My grandpa was a verbally abusive alcoholic and my grandma was so depressed she didn't even function majority of my teen years. I was also sexually abused by a boy I knew. After struggling with self harm my bishop got me into counseling where I found healing through the atonement. I married the man of my dreams in the Las Vegas Temple. After struggling with infertility for 6 years we adopted our daughter. 2 years later we adopted our son. We also have 2 dogs and 1 rabbit. I am an avid blogger and love to write about my life, my healing and my constant struggle with depression.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. By the time I was 15 my grandma was inactive and my grandpa wasn't a member, so just my older sister and I went to church. It was the one constant and safe thing in my life. It brought me peace, happiness, and hope I couldn't find anywhere else. The love I feel from my Savior and the healing power of the Atonement is indescribable. It is the only reason I survived the first 19 years of my life!

How I live my faith

I love attending church each week. I currently serve in the Primary Presidency as the 2nd Counselor. My favorite calling has been teaching in Relief Society, which has really surprised me because I'm a quiet person who doesn't talk a lot. I am also super emotional and tend to cry every time I give a talk or a teach a lesson at church!
