Hi I'm Andy

I grew up in several places but I call Utah home. I'm currently studying history teaching and political science. I'm Mormon.

About Me

I love performing: from dancing ballet to playing piano to acting in plays. I'm going to school to become a History Teacher, but I may pursue a career in politics. Other things I enjoy include: reading, writing, raising chickens, shooting hoops, and watching college football (roll tide roll!). Also I plan to begin the application process for serving an LDS mission in a few months!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know this church is true! I was born into a Mormon family, so I was raised with Gospel of Jesus Christ; however, that Mormon family has become increasingly less Mormon over the years as many of my family members have decided to leave the church. It breaks my heart. I love these family members and always will, but I don't know how they could ever leave. This church has blessed my life so much and I know without a doubt that its teachings are true. Some have attempted to lead me astray, but you will always find me on this side of the battle because I will not deny the Christ!

How I live my faith

I teach lessons on Sunday's to the other woman at church. I am given a few topics to choose from each month that I teach. I try to pick the one that I feel the woman will benefit the most from. Preparing and teaching these lessons efficiently requires a lot of studying and prayer, but I love it!

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No! Definitely not! Early church members (and we're talking 1800's early) did. It was a commandment from God to do so, just as it was a commandment from God for Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and others to do so. However, polygamy was discontinued in 1890 and, as far as I am aware of anyway, will never again be reinstated. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

I want to start out this own by saying telling you something my bishop told me: Woman are not asked to dress modestly to help men keep their thoughts and actions morally clean! Men, and woman, are fully responsible for there own thoughts and actions! On the other hand, we are asked to dress modestly and be chaste, because our bodies are gifts from God. Imagine someone, like your grandmother perhaps, made you a beautiful doily for your birthday. Would you immediately proceed to use it as a dishcloth? Hopefully not! This can be compared to using our bodies in a way that God did not intend. Not to say that those who are not chaste and/or do not dress modestly distastefully rude, but to say that they are simply not respecting the gift God gave them in the way that we are taught to. I think parents can teach their children modesty by teaching them that their bodies truly are precious gifts from God. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Pray to him! Your heavenly Father loves you and has things to say to you, but you have to let him in first. Going to church, reading scriptures, and other things will definitely help you let him in, but talking to him yourself is so important! Show more Show less
