Hi I'm Tammy

I'm 18 years old and I grew up in Manila, Philippines. I'm a 2nd year college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born with great parents who really took care of me until I grew with knowledge and in stature. They became members of the church even before I was born so we grew in the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a family where we always love and support each other and we never faltered. I graduated from high school 2 years ago and I started going to college studying the course of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. I chose this path for my education because I knew my parents will really support me on this one and they have great experience because both of them are Certified Public Accountants but my mother retired already. I'm presently striving to complete this course and I am studying hard because I know I have to take a lot of steps in order to achieve this goal; to graduate successfully and have my dream job. Besides education, I also spend my time enhancing my skills and talents. I love to spend my time playing my guitar and I learn and play the songs that I listen to especially my favorite. I also spend time listening to my specific taste of music because I enlighten myself from these things and it has been part of my life. I play video games and I also like hanging out with my friends because I know that everybody should also have friends and their support in order to live happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and in His Church and when I was growing I realized how important this is for myself and for family. It kept us closer together and to Heavenly Father and we felt love for each other. I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a true church restored again on the earth through his prophet and servant Joseph Smith who is ordained of God. Through the church it will help us obtain salvation when we come unto Him and do the things that are necessary in order to be saved such as keeping His commandments. Learning in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its gospel helped me become capable of becoming like Heavenly Father and obtain His kingdom but learning also requires work done on our part. Ever since I started to have faith in Jesus Christ which I learned from the scriptures, I realized that nothing is impossible and the Lord will bless us and he can deliver us from our pains, challenges, and trials that we are facing in this life and I know it because it happened to me. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it is the most correct book ever written on earth because it testifies of Jesus Christ and how He will redeem the earth even when He was not yet born and the book was written by prophets who received inspiration from the Spirit so it was possible for them to write the things which are of God in this book and they are true because the words itself are from the Lord. Studying and believing the words that are written in the Book of Mormon will help us live righteously and be obedient to the Lord's commandments. I know that through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and His Atonement we can come back to Him and have eternal life with our family. I know these things to be true and I share these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

The bishopric in our ward bestowed me great callings for the church. At the age of 12 they ordained me a president for a youth organization that are also compost of 12-13 year old men. I promised myself I would fulfill this calling until I became released because I know this call did not come from the bishopric themselves but from the Lord where they had a revelation to bestow this calling to me. I strove to become faithful to myself and to this call because I knew this is not just a normal call that you can trifle but I knew that the Lord will help me fulfill my duty because the Lord does not suffer His children to give them commandments save He shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish it. When I became 16 our bishop also called us who are also 16 to become home teachers. Home teachers are responsible for teaching and bringing families who are members of the church in the light of Christ and His gospel and to help them become more faithful for themselves and for their family. As a home teacher, we should also be faithful so we could also help others become faithful to the Lord and I did that even though sometimes it is hard for me and my home teaching companion to sometimes visit families. But by the time we prepared ourselves and started to teach to a family that we are assigned to visit, we felt the Spirit as we were sharing our thoughts and messages to them and they also felt our messages into their hearts and we really convinced them as a family to love and be faithful to each other. I worked hard and overcame trials and challenges that follow while I fulfill my callings in the church but I remained faithful to the Lord because I knew He would deliver me from all my hardships. I lived my faith in Jesus Christ by becoming devoted and faithful to Him through the callings that He and the ward bishopric gave me because the Lord puts His trust to me when He gave me callings and it is my duty to be faithful to Him in order for me to show my love to Him.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Tammy
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the central plan of Heavenly Father in the Plan of Salvation. In the Atonement, it was required for Jesus Christ to go to earth by being born of Mary and to experience mortal or earth life. Then He suffered the pains and afflictions of the whole world that is why it was possible for Him to bleed at every pore while He was praying at the Garden of Gethsemane. The Atonement of Jesus Christ was the most important event to ever happen on earth because it was necessary in order for it to be possible for us to go back to God's presence. No unclean thing can dwell in the presence of Heavenly Father but through the Atonement we can be cleanse from our sins if we repent and come unto Him. Jesus Christ performed the Atonement and sacrificed His life for us because we are God's children and He loves us and wants us to return to Him someday. Our purpose in this life is to do the things that will help us work out our salvation and the Atonement made it possible for us. Show more Show less
