Hi I'm Brady Swanson

I'm was born and raised in Alaska. I'm a dancer and outdoorsman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest of seven children. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and raised in a small town in Alaska called Soldotna. Growing up in Alaska, my family and I would constantly be going camping, hiking, fishing, and doing all kinds of different things outside. Being raised amongst nature and spending so much time in it with my family has really helped me grow a love and appreciation for it. When I was twelve years old, my mom practically forced me to take a few dance lessons during the summer just to see if I would like it. Though I begrudgingly and nervously agreed to take the classes, I am forever grateful that she encouraged me to try them. It was here that I found that I have an incredible love for dance and immediately signed up for as many classes that I could take at once. I've now been dancing for almost seven years and hope to continue dancing for as long as possible. I will soon be serving a mission in Mexico City and attending college when I return in two years.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a young boy, I desired to know if the church was true. I heard many stories and principles of the gospel growing up, but never knew for myself that they were true. One night, these questions just kept bouncing around in my head, and I knew that I had to find out for myself. I remembered people tell me that if I earnestly pray with true intent to know whether the things that I've learned are true, I would receive my answer. That is what I did. I got down on my knees late one night and prayed with all the strength of my heart to know if the gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true. The most wonderful feeling of peace and warmth came over me. I felt such an inexplicable joy that I just knew these things had to be true, and from that point on I needed the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ in my life. This gospel brings me more joy than anything else ever has. It brings me comfort and peace into my life. It helps me greater love my fellow man. It helps me want to improve each day as I try to follow Jesus Christ's teachings. The gospel of Jesus Christ simply makes me happy. It makes me happier than I ever could be on my own.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be better each day. By studying the scriptures, I've learned many different principles of the gospel and received many answers to questions I've had. As I study the scriptures, I feel both my love for the gospel and my understanding of it grow. When I pray to my Heavenly Father, he blesses me with peace of heart and mind. He answers questions that I might have and when I make mistakes, I can turn to him to receive forgiveness. I attend church meetings with my family each week to learn and to feel an increase of God's love for me. I pray for opportunities to serve others and look for those chances. In my youth, the church would constantly organize service projects of various kinds and those projects really helped me realize just how impactful service to others can be. Now I try to look for those opportunities to serve in my every day life. I've found that service doesn't always have to be a huge task. Sometimes the best service we can do is hold the door for someone, give a compliment, or even flash a smile. When I turn outwards and focus more on others rather than myself, that's when I feel the most joy in my life. I love the Lord and want to serve him and that is why I've decided to serve a mission. Through scripture study and a great deal of prayer I've come to know that serving a mission is the right choice for me. I will be serving in the Mexico Mexico City Northwest Mission very soon and am so excited to serve the Lord for two years.
