Hi I'm Melonie

I grew up in a small town. I enjoy being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the season Fall. During the warmer seasons I deeply enjoy kayaking down a river, or on any body of water. Hiking is also a fun activity that I like to do. I play a couple of instruments like the, violin, oboe, and a little bit on the piano. Besides being outside, I deeply enjoy reading books. I am going to college, as an Early Childhood/Special Education major. I love my major so far and hope to attain more information on it. I am also a Missionary serving in the Missouri Independence Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel teachings. When reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible, I received another testament of Jesus Christ. By being a Mormon I got to become closer to my God, and his son. I grew up in the Church and was surrounded by the teachings of the Gospel. I didn't get fully invested for myself until I decided that I needed to be more active than what I was doing. When I started working on the small and simple things that needed to be improved upon; I was able to recognize what a difference the church made in my life. The small difference of reading the scriptures and saying my prayers every day impacted me. One reason why I am a Mormon is because I feel like I am doing the right thing, when I am participating in the gospel. I know that this is the true church, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He was able to restore the church of Jesus Christ back to the earth with Gods help. I know that there is a plan of happiness in place so that we can return back to our Father in Heaven. Faith is hard to come by at times but when we work at it I know that we can achieve a belief, then faith.

How I live my faith

In my community I teach the youth, and help organize events for the youth/community. It is a blast to work with the youth. I teach the 11 to 13 year old young women of my ward. I learn so much from them and they from me. When we plan an activity we do it for our age group and also for the other age groups. At least once a month we plan an activity with they young men. These activities can be quite an adventure. I love working with the youth of my ward. Another way that I have participated in my ward was being a greeter. I loved this participation! I was able to meet everyone and welcome them in to our class. This little participation helped everyone feel welcome and helped me form new friends.
