Hi I'm Lindsay Sanders

I grew up in various parts of the U.S. I was adopted at the age of three along with my brother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Lindsay Sanders and I am currently serving in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. Before my mission I lived with my parents in a tiny town in South Dakota. Many of the people that I went to school with had no clue what a Mormon was in fact I was the only LDS member in my graduating class. Nonetheless I had supportive friends and amazing church members to lean on. I love spending time with family and friends and am currently loving all of the experiences I have been blessed to have on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I will admit that one of the main reasons I went to church was because my parents told me to. This continued up until my junior year in school. There was a tragedy in my family and I watched as my life at home crumbled before me. My parents were so shaken by the incident that they lost a huge piece of themselves part of that was their desire to attend church. I distinctly remember one fall morning my parents were fighting, my brother was still in the hospital, and I was desperate for a sense of peace. My heart was in the most literal sense breaking so I did the only thing I knew to do I went to church. That Sunday one of the members in my branch stood up and promised us that if we went to church every Sunday that we could that it would change our lives. In a desperate attempt to fix what I felt would always be broken I decided that I would test out his theory. I went alone every Sunday for almost two years and let me tell you that I quickly began to feel the gospel change me. Heavenly Father softened my heart and changed my perspective so that I could be strong enough to endure those trying years. As I began to change and to feel the spirit again I could see the gospel begin to change my family. Feelings of despair and hopelessness turned into feelings of hope and strength and what once felt impossible evolved into something that I could overcome. Through my example and the holy ghost my family is finding their way back to a path that they now wished that they never would have abandoned. I testify to you that you have a loving Heavenly Father and a savior who atoned for our sins so that when we do mess up, which all of us will, we can be forgiven and try again. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet called of God and that the Book of Mormon is true. I am Mormon because I know that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to be Christlike. Though I am not perfect, and never will be in this life, I believe that it is so important to follow the example that Jesus Christ set for us.
