Hi I'm Jordyn

I'm from a small town just outside Portland, Oregon. I'm currently serving in the Washington DC South Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've just recently graduated from high school and have decided to serve a full time mission. Over the years I've participated in many high school extracurricular activities, like choir and dance team (which has won two state championships). I'm fascinated with the arts and I have been ever since I was little, and although I'm not sure what I want to major in at college when I get home, I do know I want it to be focused on the more creative side of things. I've been blessed to grow up with such a privileged life and I want to be able to give to those who weren't as lucky as me. Yeah, I probably spend way too much time on my phone and on social media, but I'm human just like everyone else, and I plan on starting to be far more involved, as I am about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of my life: my mission. I'm a big believer in looking at the grand scheme of things, and by doing that I've decided that the best way I can make a difference in this world is by giving back. I want to share all that I know and give all that I can give to those who need it. I want to go on every adventure, visit every place, and learn about every culture, I want to experience as much as I can in life. Life's basically what I make it so let's make it rock- wise words of Hannah Montana. SO that's why I'm so, sO excited to be serving in the Washington DC South mission December 2016- June 2018 !!!

Why I am a Mormon

Most people might think I'm Mormon simply because I've grown up in the church, but while that has an obviously big role in why I'm Mormon, it is certainly not the reason. I never truly had a moment of time where I didn't believe that God's true church had been restored to the Earth again. I was able to gain a testimony- for myself, not just go off the words of others- that this is the true and full Gospel. This testimony has grown over time, but from a young age I've been able to recognize the Spirit testifying the truth of the things being taught to me. I have an early memory of one of the very first times I felt the Spirit testifying to me, and it was when my brother was sharing the Plan of Salvation with me. (Which is Heavenly Father's great Plan for us to return back to Him, basically it explains where we've come from, why we're here, and where we're going). I remember being so overcome with the feeling that I knew what he was saying was true, and that was the Spirit testifying to me. It's really quite hard to explain how I knew, but I did. I didn't just believe it, I knew it. I know that the prophet Joseph Smith was a true prophet, the first we've had for a very long time. He, just like any of us, wasn't sure which church he should join, so he prayed to the Father. Heavenly Father and His Son, and our Savior, Jesus Christ, really did appear to Joseph and, through him, restored the fullness of the Gospel back on the Earth. None of this would ever be possible without our redeemer Jesus Christ, who literally died so that we may all be saved. He is the center of our Father's plan, and without Him we would never make it back to our Father in Heaven. But through Him we can start over. I know that my Savior lives and that He truly cares for each and every one of us, and whenever you feel alone in something, just know that you're not. He has been there and can be there for you too. This church is true and contains the fullness of the Gospel, I know this is true.

How I live my faith

Over the years I've been so so lucky and privileged to be a part of many youth camps in the summer. These summer trips are very close to my heart because they hold some of the most profound and spiritual moments in my life. I've been a leader in many of these camps, where I've had the opportunity to connect with kids younger than me and teach them what I know about the Gospel. This is part of the reason I've chosen to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I honestly feel that there is no better way to spend 18 months of my life than to spend it spreading the word of the everlasting and true Gospel. I learned that I love to teach others about what I know to be true, and while I may not be the best teacher, I know that it's important to try my best to share this incredible knowledge that I have been given.
