Hi I'm Ekeoma

I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I'm a Utah State Aggie, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student. I love to sing and I love taking care of children and helping people. I'm excited to serve a mission, and to learn Spanish while doing so.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at a young age after worshiping with different Christian congregations my whole life. At the time, I didn't think much the Church or the Book of Mormon, or at least, I didn't think much different. It wasn't until I got older, and I found myself in a dark place, that I decided to make a sincere effort to find the peace and the hope that I saw in my Mormon peers. At that point, I had hit rock bottom, and I figured, whatever this does for me, it can't be any worse than where I am now. I began to to pray and fast with real intent. I obeyed all of the commandments faithfully, rather than picking and choosing. I lived the way I had been taught to do so and I tried my hardest to build a relationship with Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. To my surprise I began to feel much better, about myself, as well as about everything and every person in my life. Elder Bednar said, "Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion." Because of my experience in wholeheartedly living the gospel, I can testify with a sure knowledge, that if I live the gospel, the blessings of the gospel will come alive for me. And the same can be true for any and everyone who is willing to put in the effort.

How I live my faith

While I was in a Young Single Adult Ward, I was a Gospel Principles teacher. I learned so much from returning to and studying the basic principles of the gospel. Now that I'm back in my homeward, I am a nursery leader. It is so amazing to observe young children and truly come to realize why we have been counseled to "become as little children."
