Hi I'm Zach

I grew up in Texas. I can only eat rice and pears. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Whats up guys! I enjoy hanging out with friends, swimming, and occasionally laying down some dope rhymes. I am 19 years old and just finished my first year of college. I am preparing to serve a mission and I couldn't be more excited to do so.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was twelve years old, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Basically, my body mistakes food for the enemy causing me to get sick and not allowing me to eat that food. Over the years, it has gotten worse. 4 years ago my disease worsened to the point where my health was affecting everything in my life. My school, swimming, and my social life suffered. My doctor felt it would be best to stop eating food and go on elemental diet, allowing my body to heal itself. An elemental diet is when you either drink or be tube fed an amino acid medical formula. I have been on this diet for almost 4 years now with the addition of rice and pears. It has changed my whole life. People may not notice, but life revolves around food. College is a social time that includes frequently eating with friends. Now I don’t eat for enjoyment like I used to, I eat because I have to... This disease has taught me how to overcome adversity and never lose hope. I live a very normal life despite my disease. My testimony has been strengthened as I have been humbled by this trial and become closer to God. I have realized there is way more to life than food - I have been very blessed in my life with my family, friends, and church. I Have been through a refiners fire and I want to use my story to help others who struggle with adversity. Life isn't easy and I feel like I bring hope to the lives of those who are struggling with life right now and let them know that it will all be okay with God. I know that this church is true and I know that Christ suffered for my sins and my struggles. Christ literally ate rice and pears for however long I have to endure this. When you think about that, you really aren't alone are you? Christ loves me, and He loves you. I am a Mormon because I know what I believe is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow Christ each day. He has provided me everything I have and brings so much joy into my life each day. I take each day one at a time because that is all I can do. Life is great despite the ups and downs.
