Hi I'm Joel

Canadian, music and sports fan, serving as a missionary in Portugal, and im a mormon

About Me

I'm very athletic and played on my high schools Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country and Rugby teams. Basketball and rugby are my favourite sports to play and watch. My favourite NBA team is the Chicago Bulls. I am also musically inclined, I play guitar and piano and I enjoy writing my own songs. I like all types of music except for heavy metal and rap. I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends. I'm a huge fan of camping and being outdoors and my friends and family and I all do that together a lot. Camping helps me feel closer to my Heavenly Father, being around His beautiful creations especially at night when I can see the stars.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. Many people have this one huge spiritual moment where just boom, they know its true. I've never had a moment like this, my testimony has grown steadily through many different experiences i've had. Whether it was youth camps based on different stories from the scriptures that helped me feel Gods holy spirit testify of the truthfulness of these stories, or whether it was times where i've felt completely alone and felt my saviours love comfort me. There have been times where I have had to lean heavily on my faith to get me through, and I can testify that Jesus Christ was with me through all of my darkest times, as well as all the greatest ones. I'm mormon because to me, it doesn't make sense that we wouldn't cease to exist after we die, this church teaches that we will be able to live with our family for eternity, and I know this to be true, and I don't know what life would be like without this knowledge. I just want everyone to know who reads this, that no matter how distant you may feel from God, or maybe you feel he doesn't care, maybe you feel like you have screwed up too many times and there is no hope for you. I know and can testify that no matter what we may do, our Heavenly Father loves us, and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can be forgiven of our sins and feel a more personal relationship with God.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith through my participation in my classes at church every Sunday and Thursday night. On Sundays I have the opportunity to attend church and learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and about His plan for me. I also get the opportunity to teach other guys my age from time to time. On Thursday a bunch of us gather to have different games and activities together to build unity and have fun while keeping the spirit with us. I live my faith everyday by striving to be the person I know God wants me to be, and I realize it's a hard thing as we are commanded to be perfect. But I know that if I try my hardest to be as good a person as I can, that will be enough. I live my faith everyday by exercising my own personal faith that I am here for a reason, and that my Heavenly Father and elder brother Jesus Christ love me more then I can comprehend, and I feel that love everyday and I know they want me to return and live with them.
