Hi I'm Sister Natalia Gimenez

I am from Connecticut, I am serving a mission in São Paulo, Brazil, I love my family and my faith, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Connecticut, and I love playing the piano, singing, playing tennis, watching movies, reading, and spending time with my family. I have three amazing older sisters and one younger sister whom I love dearly. My dad is from Argentina and my mom spent eighteen-months sharing the gospel in Argentina for the church when she was 21, so the Argentine culture has always been a large part of my life. I attended Brigham Young University for a year studying linguistics because I LOVE languages. Now, I'm serving my mission in Brazil!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of how much Jesus Christ loves me. I am a Mormon because of the joy and peace I get from living according to the teachings of Jesus Christ every day. I am by no means perfect, but following the guidelines the Savior has set out in the holy scriptures to the best of my abilities has given me peace and joy that nothing else in this life ever could! I am a Mormon because I NEED to be. I realized that I NEED this gospel to be truly happy every single day. I know I have a Savior who lived and lives and who has always loved me and who will always love me, and this knowledge gives me the strength and hope to go forward every single day. I also know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me beyond my wildest imagination, and both my Redeemer and my Father want nothing more than my happiness and the happiness of all Their children on the Earth. I am a Mormon because being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings me joy!

How I live my faith

Since I have been thirteen years old, I've had the privilege of serving as a president over the girls of my age group in the youth group of my local congregation. I have also been the pianist for these girls since I was twelve, and since I was sixteen, I have been able to be the pianist for a small group of Spanish-speaking members in my congregation who hold a separate Spanish meeting twice a month. I have absolutely loved being able to spend time with these Spanish members, getting to speak with and learn from these amazing people frequently while also being taught about the amazing blessings of service. Nearly all of my friends in high school had different values than I do, so staying true to my values, like not swearing or making crude jokes and dressing modestly, had definitely presented a challenge, but I learned to love my Savior more by regularly keeping my standards. Now, I am giving eighteen months of my life back to the Lord by serving a mission for the church in Brazil, sharing the joy and hope that this gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, brings.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sister Natalia Gimenez
All Mormons are not required to serve a mission. However, it is highly encouraged for young men to serve missions, traditionally at the age of eighteen for a two year period. Young women are also allowed to serve missions starting at the age of nineteen for eighteen months, and retired men, women, and couples may also serve missions. When missionaries are on their missions, they are representatives of both the Church and of Jesus Christ Himself, acting as true disciples of Christ like in the New Testament. Serving a mission is not a requirement, but a privilege, rather. We have been given so much by God and Jesus Christ. Christ came to Earth to suffer and atone for our sins so that we can return back home to Him and our Heavenly Father, we have been given prophets and scriptures dating back to ancient times, and we have been blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ restored again in this time! By serving a mission, I can give back to the Lord in such a small way by sharing this wonderful gospel and the joy it brings to His beloved children who might not otherwise have means of hearing it. I have been called to serve as a full-time missionary in Brazil! There will always be trials, but those trials are nothing compared to the miracles that can be performed through faith in Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
