Hi I'm Ivonne

I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, retired teacher and soon to be senior missionary with my husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading, crafts, sewing, scrap booking, card making and RV traveling, and most importantly, family and friends. I was an educator for many years and I also worked as a social worker in the school system at schools with a "high risk" or "at risk" student population. I am a first generation American and I speak fluent Spanish. My husband and I will soon be embarking to another country to serve as missionaries for eighteen months.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Lord and feel so blessed because of Him that it would be ungrateful of me to turn away from His redeeming love. Through His atonement and His many tender mercies, He has brought me great peace and unspeakable joy. Through my membership in His church, I have come to a fuller understanding of my purpose on this earth and my relationship with my Heavenly Father. That knowledge has given me greater strength and courage during difficult trials and sad experiences. I know He loves us will never leave us alone. That knowledge and the spirit that I feel when I pray to Him, is why I have chosen to worship Him and be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I have served in many organizations that help under served populations as well as church auxiliaries which not only function to serve members of my church but help serve others outside the church as well. Our current endeavor is a drive to provide school items and clothes to refugee children entering this country. In the past, I have worked with co-workers to provide books for a library that was built by an American company in Ghana, West Africa. Free lending libraries and books are not a given in many countries and as an educator, I firmly believe that education can truly lift those oppressed and living in poverty.
