Hi I'm Roberta

I live in Spokane Valley, Washington, USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I love to sew and make raspberry jam from the raspberries my husband grows. Spending time with my children and grandchildren is something I always look forward too.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a Mormon. My parents and grandparents were Mormon too. I choose to continue in this faith because I have found striving to live the teachings of Jesus Christ brings true happiness to my life. It safeguards me against pitfalls and dangers of bad choices. It is such a blessing to have living prophets and apostles to warn against the sins around us and to encourage us to choose righteous living. Of course, I do not always make the best decisions, but I can always make changes that lead me back to the pathway of living true principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is sad that Christ was crucified and died, but the good news is He had the power to be Resurrected and live forever. Now, we can too. With His death and the death of the original apostles, God's true authority, or power of the priesthood, was lost from the earth. Many people tried to remember the things Jesus taught and would teach those things in their churches, but the priesthood authority was missing. Many good things are taught in most churches still today, but the priesthood authority from God is not there. One day in 1820 a young boy by the name of Joseph Smith, Jr. was confused by which church to join. He read in the Bible in James 1:5 that if he lacked wisdom, or didn't know something, he could ask God. So he went to a secluded place near his home in upstate New York, USA in a grove of trees and said a prayer asking God which of the all the churches was right. He wanted to know which church to join. His experience that followed changed the world forever. It changed my life because this simple and humble question of a young boy who had faith that his prayer would be answered led to the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ. It is the same organization that existed while Christ lived on the earth. His priesthood authority, or power to act in God's name was subsequently restored also. I love His gospel and feel it is a privilege to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I enjoy Sunday meetings each week. Church attendance renews my soul for the coming week. There are a few women that a friend and I visit every month. We talk about things we have been doing and sometimes we talk about a religious topic relating to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I bring a jar of homemade jam to them. Soon I will be leaving my friends to serve a mission with my husband in another country. I will make new friends there and share my love for Jesus Christ with them. This is so exciting to be able to do this!
